Lompoc AYSO Region 77 Queen Candidate Job Description Purpose Sponsorship of a Lompoc Flower Festival Queen Candidate is just one of the ways that AYSO gives back to the Lompoc community, while at the same time supporting local youth in their endeavor to represent our community in a positive and constructive manner. Each year, in October, AYSO will accept resumes along with the attached Flower Festival Queen Candidate application form from current or former registered AYSO players who are interested in running for the position of AYSO Flower Festival Queen Candidate. All applicants must have played in the AYSO Region 77 soccer league and must have volunteered time to help out the league either by refereeing, coaching, or volunteering to work at AYSO fundraiser(s). Length of time playing for the league and number of volunteer hours will be considered a high priority in which a Queen Candidate will be chosen to represent AYSO. In addition, the prospective candidate must be a good citizen and student. Specific Duties and Responsibilities The AYSO Queen Candidate is expected to: 1. Be responsible for selling 2500 tickets, with the help of friends and family. 2. Be responsible for meeting with our Events Coordinator/Queen Mom to set up fundraiser dates in order to raise the money to buy $2500 worth of tickets, plus any other expenses incurred by AYSO.

2 A list of possible fundraisers follows. The Queen Candidate may revise this list as necessary; however, always bearing in mind that AYSO will not fund any portion of the $2,500 out of its reserves. Queen Ticket Sales Queen Button Sales Queen BBQ Queen Car Washes Queen Bake Sales held at Wal-Mart/Albertson s/and at all Registrations (5-6) Chamber of Commerce Cinco De Mayo celebration at Ryon Park And one other fundraiser of their choice if necessary 3. Be responsible for attending all meetings in regards to the Flower Festival! Missing a meeting could be cause for disqualification from the Flower Festival Queen Candidacy, so it is important not to miss any of their meetings. 4. The Queen will be responsible for obtaining donated food items or other items needed for our fundraisers. Letters must be sent out to businesses in a timely manner prior to events. The AYSO Queen Coordinator can provide standard boilerplate letters for this purpose. 5. All funds raised through AYSO must be submitted to the Treasurer and go through the AYSO books for auditing purposes. 6. All the family tickets sales can be turned in directly to the Flower Festival, with a copy of the receipt given to AYSO for record keeping purposes. 7. AYSO shall reimburse the Queen for expenses if the proper receipts are given and enough money is raised to warrant a refund. The Queen will be expected to have some out-of-pocket expenses so please keep this in mind. (Examples include baked goods, car wash supplies, food items needed for the booth, etc). Suggestions are to get family members (grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, friends and teammates) to help donate. 8. AYSO board members are not required to attend Queen events or fundraisers but support will be appreciated. 9. All money raised after the $2500 requirement will go towards the AYSO General Fund account and will be used in accordance with the budget. All money raised will also be given to AYSO from the Flower Festival Association in accordance with their guidelines in a percentage ratio. 10. The Queen will be updated with am Income/Expense report to keep her up to date on how she is doing as well as to the Committee. 11. Will Attend Board meetings, registration days, and other AYSO Events when she can. 12 Will assist other Queen Candidates with fundraising for their organizations.

3 13. Will attend all AYSO Events and help when she can such as our concession stand, Spring Arts booths, Flower Festival Booths, Registrations, board meetings etc. for the one year. 13. If the EDA Queen Candidate quits at any time, her parents shall pay all accrued cost directly to the Flower Festival Association that have accrued. Such as button cost, dress cost, etc.! Qualifications and Desired Skills To be considered for the position of AYSO Queen Candidate, the applicant: 1. Must have completely filled out an application with the Lompoc Festival Association and must have been approved by the Festival to run. The Festival will notify AYSO of applicants meeting our qualifications, and AYSO will process candidates as stated on this form. 2. The AYSO Queen Committee shall vote and choose a Queen to represent AYSO by November date TBA of each year. 3. Must have played for AYSO Region Must be honest and organized. 5. Could have helped at AYSO Events in some capacity (i.e., refereeing, Junior refereeing, coaching, assistant coaching) in addition to being a player). Dedication to AYSO through all the above shall weigh heavily on the candidate who will be chosen to represent AYSO. Supervision Protocols While performing as the AYSO Queen Candidate, the volunteer is: 1. Subject to the bylaws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines of AYSO; 2. Under the overall authority of and directly supervised by the Events Coordinator, Regional Commissioner, Asst Region Commissioners, and Treasurer. 3. Aware that they are representing AYSO and must carry themselves in a respectful manner at all public events. (In other words, not speaking ill of others, including the AYSO board, and/or Flower Festival Association. The candidate must understand that she is serving as a role model for our Board and other youth in our community. Time Commitment The anticipated time commitment for an AYSO Queen Candidate is a full year. The estimated hours to fulfill duties depend on what events are going on.

4 Orientation, Training, Provided To prepare as a Queen Candidate for the position of AYSO Flower Festival Queen, the applicant must attend all Flower Festival Queen Candidate meetings in order to become educated and familiar with queen candidate protocol. Activity Locations While performing the duties of AYSO Queen, the volunteer is limited to the following locations, unless expressly authorized in writing by the Events Coordinator, regional commissioner, and Asst Commissioner, to hold activities in another location. 1. Regional board meetings; (1 st Monday of the month unless otherwise specified) 2. Registration day(s); 3. Assigned Fundraising Locations 4. Flower Festival Association Events/meetings Committee to choose Queen Candidate The Events Coordinator, RC, Asst RC s shall form a committee to run the AYSO Queen Candidate Sponsorship. This committee shall be made up of at least a minimum of the RC, Asst RC s, Events Coordinator, and Treasurer. All other board members are welcome to be part of the committee and shall set up separate meetings to choose the Queen and handle all the events in regards to the AYSO Queen. Once a committee has been formed and a Queen chosen to represent our organization, all committee members will be expected to help as much as possible at sponsored Queen Events. This would include Queens Debut/Queens Coronations etc. AYSO Committee members shall be posted on our Website as contacts.

We understand the above terms and agree to abide by the guidelines written above. We agree to hold AYSO harmless from any liability to the organization, its members or the AYSO board due to unforeseen circumstances might occur due to our daughter s participation in the AYSO Flower Festival Queen Candidacy.
