3 ORDINANCE NO. AN ORDINANCE CANCELLING THE REGULAR CITY ELECTION ON MAY 6, 2017, FOR THE ELECTION OF TWO (2) COUNCIL MEMBERS FOR THE CITY OF FREDERICKSBURG, TEXAS. WHEREAS, on February 6, 2017, the City Council of the City of Fredericksburg called a regular election of two council members; and WHEREAS, only two candidates, those being Gary Neffendorf and Jerry Luckenbach, filed for a place on the ballot, and there are no other matters to be considered at this election; and WHEREAS, as a result, the previously called election is unnecessary, and the City council of the City of Fredericksburg, Texas, deems it advisable to cancel the election previously ordered and to declare the two candidates will succeed the current council members in office; THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINE D BY THE CITY OF FREDERICKSBURG CITY COUNCIL, TEXAS: 1. That the said regular city election, previously called, be and is hereby cancelled, and 2. That Gary Neffendorf and Jerry Luckenbach be and are hereby declared to be council members-elect with terms commencing at the termination of the current council member's terms. 4 CITY COUNCIL MEMO DATE: March 6, 2017 TO: City Council FROM: Juli Bahlinger, Communications Manager SUBJECT: City/County Beautification Poster Contest Summary: In March of 2016 the City and County passed a resolution establishing Clean-up Days for Fredericksburg and Gillespie County. The resolution called for clean-up days the first week of April and September of each year. This year a contest was developed to create posters in support of the campaign. Fredericksburg High School art students competed for prizes and the privilege of having their art work developed into a campaign poster. Tonight we will recognize the top students.
