New Petitions: The Committee will consider the following new petitions PE765 Ensuring retention of the current 8 fire controls in Scotland. Jim Malone, on behalf of the Fire Brigades Union, Tayside, will make a brief statement in support of the petition accompanied by Libby Logan and John Duffy. PE767 Review the operation of the Fatal Accident and Sudden Deaths Inquiry (Scotland) Act Norman Dunning, Chief Executive, ENABLE will make a brief statement in support of the petition accompanied by Elizabeth Mauchland. PE768 Implications of the proposed Agenda for Change legislation for Speech and Language Therapy services and service users within the NHS. Susan Bannatyne will make a brief statement in support of the petition accompanied by Nicola Orr and Judith Philip. PE762 Review of guidance for local authorities on the allocation of funding to the voluntary sector. PE764 The needs of elderly and disabled residents in urban areas in relation to possible sub post office closures.

The Committee will consider responses from the petitioner and the Crown Office. PE683 Modifying the Public Finance and Accountability (Scotland) Act 2000 to ensure that annual audits include technical examinations. The Committee will consider a response from the petitioner. PE687 Campaign encouraging the donation of bone marrow and blood stem cells through a bone marrow register. The Committee will consider a response from the petitioner. PE722 Introduction of legislation to abolish rule 4.2(5) of the Rules of Court. The Committee will consider responses from the Law Society of Scotland, the Faculty of Advocates and the Scottish Executive. PE738 Consultation with consumers on the maximum permitted levels of vitamin and mineral supplements included in the European Commission Food Supplements Directive. The Committee will consider a response from the Minister for Health and Community Care. PE742 Developing a Scottish national dance hall located in Edinburgh. The Committee will consider a response from the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Sport. Not before 11.30am PE535 Inquiry into past institutional child abuse. Petition by Norman Dunning, on behalf of ENABLE, calling for the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Executive to review the operation and effectiveness of the Fatal Accidents and Sudden Deaths Inquiry (Scotland) Act PE768 Petition by Susan Bannatyne and Nicola Orr, calling for the Scottish Parliament to consider and debate the implications of the proposed Agenda for Change legislation for Speech and Language Therapy services and service users within the NHS. PE762 PE764 Petition by James Clifford, on behalf of Craigneuk Development and Support Unit, calling for the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Executive to review its guidance for local authorities on the allocation of funding to the voluntary sector and in particular the apparent emphasis on the funding of innovative/new projects at the expense of existing projects. Petition by Margaret Tait, on behalf of the Stoneybank Tenants and Residents Association, Musselburgh, calls on the Scottish Parliament to request the Post Office to consider sympathetically the needs and requirements of disabled and elderly persons who, in urban areas in Scotland, would be expected to walk substantial distances, sometimes in excess of 2 miles, as a result of possible closure of certain sub post offices.

Petition by Bill Alexander, calling for the Scottish Parliament to modify the Public Finance and Accountability (Scotland) Act 2000 to ensure that the annual audit of the bodies and office-holders mentioned in the Act is expanded to include examinations of technical as well as financial matters. PE687 Petition by Geva Blackett, calling for the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Executive to (a) run a campaign encouraging the donation of bone marrow and blood stem cells through a bone marrow register and (b) recognise and support organisations which recruit bone marrow donors. PE722 Petition by James Duff, calling on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Executive to introduce legislation to abolish rule 4.2(5) of the Rules of Court. PE738 Petition by Joanna Blythman, calling for the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Executive to ensure that the voice of consumers of vitamin and mineral supplements is heard as the European Commission prepares to set maximum permitted levels as part of the Food Supplements Directive and to consider all options, including a derogation, that would allow Scots consumers access to the vitamin and mineral potencies currently available. PE742 Petition by Joyce Kinnear, calling for the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Executive to ensure that Scotland has a national dance hall, located in Edinburgh. PE535 Petition by Christopher Daly, calling for the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Executive to (a) make an inquiry into past institutional child abuse, in particular for those children who were in the care of the State under the supervision of religious orders and (b) make an unreserved apology for said State bodies and to urge the religious orders to apologise unconditionally.
