1 Implementation of SDGs in Pakistan Pakistan has initiated work on SDGs at the sub-national level (provinces) Setting up provincial units for SDG implementation, coordination & monitoring Localizing SDGs beyond the sub-national level is most critical element for an effective implementation mechanism for SDGs In Pakistan, recently elected local governments will play a major role in accelerating progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals To this end, SDG prioritization, planning, budgeting & implementation needs to be strengthened

2 Local Governance & Executive Snapshot District level systems lack capacities to plan, implement & monitor public service delivery Data silos: collected data is not collated & analyzed for planning purposes This leads to ineffective local planning for SDGs The solution: Online platform that brings together available qualitative and quantitative development data To provide decision makers a picture of social development indicators and resource allocations For this purpose: UNDP Pak together with BRH is piloting a LG assessment to facilitate SDG prioritization & planning

Selection of KP province to pilot LG Assessment (Decentralized Act) Consultation with KP Govt. (LG Dept.)
