On January 24 th 2018, Global Affairs Canada launched an online portal to allow companies to register trade barriers. Chamber will ensure we are seen as the voice of Canadian business, and that federal government defends member interests at the negotiating table. Canadian government continues to pursue NAFTA modernisation as a negotiating objective. The CCC has been actively vocal on the NAFTA file. This includes through appearances at Parliamentary committees, active media and social presence, submissions to government outlining member priorities, and leading business-tobusiness missions to several US states. Event was also hosted during Montreal negotiating round. Securing North American Steel Production and Products through a Letter written on November to Chrystia Freeland, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and responsible for Canada-US relations. CCC will host webinar for Chamber Network to brief wider network on the issue. 7

Feb 19/18 - Bill C-69 introducing a new impact assessment regime and Canadian Energy Regulator tabled in parliament. Carbon Pricing: An Urgent Need to Balance Competitiveness for Future Sustainability Nov. 30/17 Letter to Hon. Catherine McKenna, Minister of Environment and Climate Change Feb 27/18 - Engagement with MPs on the House Standing Committees for Natural Resource and Environment and Sustainable on the Federal Carbon pricing backstop. Further meetings are planned for March. Jan 30/18 - The government released draft text of proposed federal government carbon pricing regime, which includes an output-based allocation pricing system for emissions-intensive, trade-exposed industries.
