1 JMC SEALED ANOTHER PERMISES IN GANDHI NAGAR On the directions of Sh. Ramesh Kumar (IAS) Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation Jammu and under the supervision of Sh. Rajesh Sharma (KAS) Joint Commissioner (Administration), the Enforcement staff while acting tough and taking action vigorously against the violations, sealed the premises of Sh. Anil Chouhan S/o Sh. Romesh Chouhan at 84 B/B Gandhi Nagar, Jammu who started the work to put the building for commercial use in violation of the land use of the area from residential to commercial one. The sealing has been done under the provisions of section 8 (1) of J&K Control of Building Operation Act, Besides this, the team also conducted a drive against the use of polythene carry bags and inspected the various shops and other outlets in the different parts of city. During the inspection the team seized the polythene carry bags which were below 50 Microns and also charged Rs as compounded fee from the defaulters on spot. The team also requested the people to use the bags made of bio-degradable material to carry their goods / articles. The Jammu Municipal Corporation appeals to the General Public to refrain from making encroachments and unauthorized constructions / Conversion in violation of land use otherwise strict action as admissible under rule leading to demolition / sealing will be taken. 3 JMC Starts Composting in ward no. 13 Resham Ghar Jammu Under the guidelines of Swachh Bharat Mission and on the instructions of Sh. Ramesh Kumar, (IAS) Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation. Dr. Anita Salgotra, Health Officer JMC with the live demonstration & Technical advice from State Pollution Control Board Jammu started segregation and composting at source in ward no. 13 Resham Ghar Jammu in the presence of Sh. Munish Sharma Vice Chairman JAKFED. Mrs. Anuradha Gupta, Scientist from State Pollution Control Board and expert from Lucknow gave live demonstration and technical assistance for proper segregation and composting. Large number of public also participated in the live demonstration. The Health officer apprised that earlier dustbins of two different colours were distributed (green bin for biodegradable wet waste and blue bin for non-biodegradable dry waste). The segregation is compulsory under guidelines of SBM so it is responsibility of every citizen to segregate waste at source. This will also reduce quantity of garbage being lifted and dumped by the Corporations at dumping sites. This will help to make Jammu clean & green. Now the composting is started in ward no. 13, the residents are requested to segregate the waste and dispose off the same in different dustbins which shall be collected by the Safaikaramcharies of JMC from door to door. The welfare Committee and residents assured that they shall extend their full cooperation to the Jammu Municipal Corporation for the success of Swachh Bharat Mission, a big initiative taken by Hon ble Prime Minister of India. 5 Commissioner, JMC reviews the preparedness of Swachh Survekshan Sh. Ramesh Kumar (IAS), Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation took a review of the progress of Swachhata and preparedness forswachh Suverakshan-2018 during which he issued instructions to the concerned Officers for taking steps for installation of composting machines in bulk generator establishments like Hotels, Banquet Halls and Fruit/Vegetable markets which would help in minimizing the accumulation of waste and further added that compost so generated be used as manure in the Municipal parks. He directed the Health Officer to utilize the men and machinery of the Corporation for maintaining sanitation and cleanliness within the limits of Jammu Municipal Corporation. He stressed for door to door collection of waste and segregation of waste be ensured in all the wards of JMC and also impressed upon the concerned for ensuring better scientific cleaning and its disposal including transportation after proper segregation. He also directed the Health Officer to maintain proper attendance of sanitation staff so that there can be no laxity in providing proper sanitation to the inhabitants of the City. He further stressed up all the Officers to take sanitation of the City as a challenge and come with a road map so that same is deliberated and action is taken on the actionable points. He also appealed the general public to extend their helping hand to Jammu Municipal Corporation in maintaining the proper sanitation and also to achieve the goal of Swachh Bharat Mission so that Jammu City can become a Smart City in the real sense. 7 Swachh Survekashan-2018 Mr. Ramesh Kumar (IAS), Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation stated that Swachh Survekashan-2018 is going on, during which Jammu Municipal Corporation shall focus on improving sanitation scenario within the Jammu City. He added that the concerned Officers/Officials have been impressed upon to take concrete steps for maintaining proper sanitation by deploying adequate men and machinery. He stated that the Ministry of Urban Development, Govt. of India has launched Swachhata App which can be downloaded by the residents of the City for giving their feedback relating to the sanitation of their respective areas. He further informed that Swachh Survekashan 2018 is going on and the feedback of the public through Swachhata App will help the JMC to improve the sanitation of different areas falling within its jurisdiction and on spot redressal of their grievances. He appealed the general public to segregate the waste at source into separate bins as wet and dry waste. The wet waste can be converted into compost after proper segregation and the dry waste can be recycled. He further appealed not to throw the construction material on the road sides as well as in Nallahs which is a cause of choking of different nallahs of the City. He further added that for the success of Swachh Survekashan-2018, the involvement of citizens is very much required, as without the co-operation of general public the aim of Swachh Bharat Mission could not be achieved. 20 January 2018 E-Newsletter January 2018 Page 7

8 Republic day Celebration Mr. Ramesh Kumar, IAS, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation today hoisted the National Flag, the Tri-colour at Jammu Municipal Corporation, Town Hall Complex, Jammu on the occasion of 69 th Republic Day During the occasion Commissioner, JMC convey heart-felt greetings to the employees of Jammu Municipal Corporation and appreciated the work of officers/officials as well as SKCs of JMC and stressed upon for fulfillment of their duties and responsibilities with dedication, hard work and sincerity for a bright and prosperous society. He also stressed for providing better services to the general public and further stated that there is a need to educate the general masses to understand the need of the hour is to maintain our well being by way of keeping our surroundings neat and clean and it is duty of every citizen to pay more attention in respect of clean Jammu and green Jammu. 10 JMC conducts drive against illegal Constructions On the direction of Sh. Ramesh Kumar (IAS), Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation. The enforcement wing of Jammu municipal corporation led by Rajesh Gupta chief enforcement officer acted tough on violators and demolished illegal structures at Sanjay nagar Jammu. It came to the notice of JMC that some shops have come up in the residential area in sector 3. of Sanjay nagar without obtaining permission. The structures, being in violation of rules/ building laws, were demolished by the concerted effort of transport wing and enforcement wing of the corporation. The whole operation was supervised by Rajesh Sharma,KAS joint commissioner JMC. Mr Ramesh Kumar, IAS commissioner JMC directed the enforcement wing of JMC to maintain strict vigil and ensure that no illegality is allowed by way of construction without valid permission. He further appealed to the general public to cooperate with the corporation and undertake constructions only after obtaining proper permission from the competent authority. 28 January 2018 E-Newsletter January 2018 Page 10

11 Meeting of Building Permission Authority was convened under the Chairmanship of Mr. Ramesh Kumar (IAS), Commissioner, JMC. In order to create safe and sustainable environment in the city and for building a resilient city, a meeting of Building Permission Authority was convened today on 29/01/2018 under the Chairmanship of Mr. Ramesh Kumar (IAS), Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (Chairman, BPA). After deliberating on building permission cases by the members of the committee, approval was accorded for about seventy (70) building permission cases falling within the jurisdiction of Jammu Municipal Corporation. About Rs lacs shall be generated as revenue for JMC on account of approval of such building permissions. It was also decided in the meeting for issuing an advisory to public in general and citizens of Jammu city in particular to raise their buildings only after obtaining proper building permission from Jammu Municipal Corporation to help in making Jammu safe, secure, planned and resilient city. Further, it was also decided that periodic Building Permission Authority meetings shall be convened to clear the pending building permission cases in time bound manner. Besides, Commissioner, JMC, the other members viz Mr. Rajesh Sharma (KAS), Joint Commissioner (A) JMC, Mr. Kushal Chand Joint Commissioner (W) JMC, S. Jasmeet Singh AC (Nazool), Mr. R.K Tutoo Div. Town Planner, JMC, MR. Taj Choudhary Executive Engineer Sewerage & Drainage Division Jammu and representatives of Chief Town Planner Town Planning Organization (CTP TPO), Executive Engineer PHE & PDD Divisions were also present in the meeting.
