In-Service Inspection and Qualification Challenges Improve safety in operation and by design High reliability and optimized functionality of systems High reliability of components Improve modeling of phenomena in NPPs Increase public awareness Efficient integration of NPPs in the energy mix Prepare the future to avoid technology obsolescence Performance and ageing of NPPs for long term operation ERMSAR 2017, Warsaw, May 16-18,

4 Context of TA2/SARNET activities The former SARNET FP6/FP7 objectives remain: Integration of efforts of European R&D organisations in identification of research priorities and defining common research programmes, Capitalizing the knowledge gained in common tools (simulation codes, experimental databases), Bringing together top scientists in severe accident research to constitute a world leadership position, Disseminating the knowledge through education and training programmes and conferences towards students and young researchers and towards new nuclear countries. ERMSAR 2017, Warsaw, May 16-18,

5 TA2/SARNET Severe accidents structure Coordination: Jean-Pierre Van Dorsselaere (IRSN) Sub-TA and leaders: 2.1 In-vessel corium/debris coolability (Alex Miassoedov, KIT) 2.2 Ex-vessel corium interactions & coolability (Pascal Piluso, CEA) 2.3 Containment behaviour incl. H 2 risk (Ivo Kljenak, JSI) 2.4 Source term, as released from NPP to the environment (Luis Herranz, CIEMAT) 2.5 Impact of severe accidents on environment and emergency management (François Bréchignac, IRSN) 2.6 Severe accident scenarios (Felice De Rosa, ENEA) Coordination of dissemination of knowledge activities: Sandro Paci (Univ. Pisa) ERMSAR 2017, Warsaw, May 16-18,
