Saving the environment is a bit like the battle of David & Goliath. Meet David. (and his mates) Warning: This brochure contains a number of alarming facts and may cause immediate positive action.

the battle.. As world population continues to increase at a faster rate than freshwater runoff, UNESCO predicts that by 2020, water shortage will be a serious worldwide problem. That s just a few years away. Crikey! We Australians are the biggest consumers of water per capita in the world, using over a million litres per person each year. Yet, aside from Antartica, ours is the driest continent on earth! We need to lower our consumption significantly, and fast. In developed countries, people use between 850 and 1,000 litres of water each day. In poor areas where people rely on public taps for their water, consumption drops to between 20 and 70 litres each per day. Where there are no taps at all and people (usually women) have to travel to collect water, daily consumption often drops to between 2 and 5 litres. This is close to the absolute biological minimum people need to stay alive. Australia Africa Europe Asia North America South America (Litres/person/day) Australia Africa Europe Asia North America South America 12, (ml/year/km 2 ) Australia s annual average rainfall is 469 mm per year, well below the global average of 746mm per year. Add to this the marked increase in droughts right across the country... WATER CONSUMED including irrigation STREAMFLOW by continent Salt water (Sea water) 97% Fresh water available 0.01% shown here very oversized! Fresh water 3% That s all, folks... Fresh water is essential to our existence. But only 3% of water in the world is fresh. Less than one third of 1% of that is available to humans. The rest is frozen in glaciers, polar ice caps or deep within the earth, beyond our reach. The hidden uses of water Did you know it takes: 4 litres to produce a bottle of beer 41,500 litres to produce a kilo of meat 50 litres to produce a copy of Saturday s newspaper 5,000 litres to create one kilo of rice 500 litres to produce one orange 1,340,000 litres to produce one tonne of aluminium

THE DESERT CUBE CAN REDUCE WATER CONSUMPTION IN URINALS BY UP TO 98% must be won. Fresh water is without question, our most precious resource. So next time Nature calls, think about this: THAT S A SMALL CHANGE, FOR A BIG DIFFERENCE.

Make every drop count. The average urinal wastes around 151,000 litres of water every year. That s 151,000 good reasons to use the cube. How much could you save? A school with 500 male students could save 2,850,000 litres a year A large shopping centre could save a massive 13,000,000 litres a year A small hotel could save 982,800 litres a year An office building with 100 male staff could save 1,333,200 litres a year

How Desert Cubes work Desert Cubes use microbial technology to turn your existing trough or bowl facilities into a touch-free waterless urinal. Desert Cubes are simply placed in the base of the urinal and the water supply is turned off. A small amount of water is poured into the urinal each day to activate the cubes. Beneficial microbes are released as the cubes slowly dissolve over several weeks.not only do the microbes trigger a natural breakdown of organic matter inside the drain, they also interfere with the bacterial digestion that produces unpleasant odours. Good for the environment, good for your business The benefits of using Desert Cubes support three vital activities in today s business environment; reducing costs, exercising environmental responsibility, and demonstrating corporate leadership. Cost Reduction Cut water consumption and discharge costs for urinals by up to 98%. Reduce the number of plumbing call outs for blocked pipes. Reduce maintenance costs for cisterns, sensor replacements and automatic valve replacements. Eliminate the cost of purchasing automatic chemical sanitisers and deodorant urinal blocks. And you ll also save your business from downtime dealing with these issues Environmental Responsibility The Desert Cube System is an environmentally responsible approach to hygiene in three ways; 1. Reduce water usage dramatically A single standard urinal bay uses about 151,000 litres of water a year. Desert Cubes can reduce this by as much as 98%. A small change to Desert Cubes can achieve huge water savings. 2. Avoid the use of harmful chemicals to staff and the environment When the well s dry, we know the worth of water. Benjamin Franklin Desert Cubes eliminate the need to use toxic environmental pollutants including harmful cleaning agents, chemical sanitisers, urinal blocks and regular acid treatments to clear pipes. Your cleaning staff will love the change! 3. Reduce wastewater discharge and treatment The Desert Cube system reduces significantly the amount of wastewater discharged and the treatment required to render it environmentally safe. Desert Cubes are 100% bio-degradable and are suitable for septic and sewerage systems. Corporate Leadership Build brand and business reputation by aligning with growing community environmental values. Demonstrate corporate leadership with an innovative approach to water conservation. Be seen to be doing the right thing. Show commitment through action. Motivate and attract employees by showing that you share their concern for environmental sustainability. Colliers International - A case study Colliers International s Adelaide Office is leading the field in the implementation of water saving initiatives at 10 Pulteney Street. The installation of waterless urinal cubes throughout the 18 floors complex has seen a reduction in water consumption in the building over the past 12 months in the vicinity of four million litres. The initiative cost $2,400 and delivered water cost-savings and reduced plumbing costs of $8,200.

Parkside Primary School switched from a urinal system using copious amounts of water to the Desert Cube system since the beginning of the school year. It has been an amazing change. Our School Community, which values conservation and sensible use of our natural resources, is delighted. There are obvious savings in our usage of water and there has been no reduction in the healthiness of our urinals. In fact they smell better and look cleaner. We recently had your Desert Cube product installed at the City of Rockingham Administration Building and would like to say thankyou. The smell in the toilets has instantly changed to a pleasant odour and the cleaners no longer have to deal with toxic deodoriser cakes. We know you have a great product here and would be only too happy to recommend it to potential customers. James Stanford, Renewable Energy Engineer City of Rockingham Dennis Harris, Principle Parkside Primary School We ve had four separate hygiene companies try to get rid of the smell in the men s room without any effect at all. The Desert Cube eliminated the problem in one day. We will never go back to the flushing system. Gary Neighbours, Manager Belmont Tavern I was very pleased to note that our average daily water consumption had dropped by approximately 50%. We have achieved 6 monthly savings of approximately $1,000 on water consumption and also $1,000 on wastewater volume discharge fees. These savings are due almost entirely to the use of waterless urinal cubes. As well as saving the club money, we are also doing our bit to preserve our precious water resources. Many thanks for introducing this system to our club. Brian Baldwin, Manager Musgrave Hill Bowls CluB Join us and take aim for the environment.
