1 Ref. Ares(2015) /09/2015 Annex BAT conclusions for the Intensive Rering of Poultry or Pigs 1.2 BAT conclusions for the intensive rering of pigs Ammoni emissions from n niml house for pigs BAT 30. In order to reduce mmoni emissions to ir from n niml house for pigs, BAT is to use one or comintion of the techniques given elow. Use of housing system One of the following techniques, which pplying one or comintion of the following principles: i) reduce the mmoni emitting surfce; ii) increse the frequency of slurry (mnure) removl to externl storge; iii) seprte ion of urine nd from feces; iv) keep edding clen nd dry. For this purpose, one of the following housing systems my e used: 0. Fully or prtly sltted floor with A deep pit (in cse of fully or prtly sltted floor) only if used in comintion with n dditionl mitigtion mesure, e.g.: - comintion of nutritionl mngement techniques; - ir clening system; - ph reduction of the slurry; - slurry cooling 1. Fully or prtly sltted floor with A vcuum system for frequent slurry removl (in cse of fully or prtly sltted floor) 2. Fully or prtly sltted floor with s Slnted wlls in the mnure chnnel (in cse of Ffully or prtly sltted floor) 3. Fully or prtly sltted floor with A scrper for frequent slurry removl (in cse of fully or prtly sltted floor) Animl ctegory Not pplicle to new plnts, unless deep pit is comined with n ir clening system, slurry cooling nd/or ph reduction of the slurry. Only pplicle to existing plnts if used in comintion with n dditionl mitigtion mesure, e.g. comintion of nutritionl techniques, ir clening system, ph reduction of the slurry, slurry cooling. For mting nd gestting sows, fully sltted floor is only pplicle when less thn 15 % of the surfce of the lying re is reserved for dringe openings. For mting nd gestting sows, fully sltted floor is only pplicle when less thn 15 % of the surfce of the lying re is reserved for dringe openings. 1
