3 NOA Gas Tansmission Ltd NOA Gas Tansmission Ltd Apil 0 Peace Rive Mainline Abandonment Poject INTRODCTION NOA Gas Tansmission Ltd (NGTL is poposing to abandon appoximately km of the NPS 0 Peace Rive Mainline (PRML and associated infastuctue (the Poject The pipeline was constucted by the Peace Rive Oil Pipeline Co Ltd in 1 and puchased by the Albeta Gas Tunk Line Company, the pedecesso of NGTL, fom Peace Rive Oil Pipe Co Ltd in 171 The pipeline was conveted fom oil to gas tansmission and began sevice in Novembe 1, 17 The PRML is looped within a shaed ightof-way with an existing NPS 0 pipeline fom the Meikle Rive Compesso Station at appoximately KP In 0, NGTL filed an Application with the National Enegy Boad (NEB pusuant to Section 51 of the Onshoe Pipeline Regulations to decommission the Poject components listed in Section 0 [NEB Filing ID A5] Afte eviewing the application and consideing the natue and scope of the poposed Poject, the NEB detemined that NGTL will be equied to submit an application fo abandonment, pusuant to Section 7 of the NEB Act Abandoning a pipeline, as defined by the NEB, means to pemanently cease opeation such that the cessation esults in the discontinuance of sevice TERA, a CHM HILL Company (TERA has been etained by NGTL to update and confim select biophysical and socio-economic infomation gatheed fo the 0 NGTL Peace Rive Mainline Decommissioning poject 0 PRPOSE The following document povides a summay of the esults fo the updated desktop eview associated with the PRML As equested by NGTL, the updates include efeshing and veifying baseline infomation, adding esults fom field studies completed by TERA in 0 and 0, evising the Poject mapping to include updated data layes, whee applicable, and adding wetland delineation infomation along the existing pipeline ight-of-way TERA undestands that this document will be used to help suppot intenal NGTL planning of the Section 7 NEB application 0 GENERAL PROJECT DESCRIPTION The Poject entails the abandonment of the following components: appoximately km of the NPS 0 pipeline fom the alleyview Compesso Station at --- W5M to the Meikle Rive Compesso Station at --- WM (Figue 11; appoximately km of the NPS Watino Lateal Pipeline fom W5M to W5M (Figue 1; all abovegound pipeline facilities associated with the Poject, including block valves, side valves and sales taps, and scape taps associated cathodic potection facilities, including 10 cathodic potection ectifies; the Dixonville Noth Mete Station located at WM (Figue 11; and the alleyview Compesso Station located at --- W5M (Figue 11 Abandonment activities ae expected to include the following woks: emoval of all above gound facilities; filling of the pipeline with fillcete o concete at aeas sensitive to subsidence (ie, oad/ail cossings; Page 1 Januay, 017 Page of
