Why Roadmaster Calcium Chloride? Provides dust control at lowest total cost. Improves road quality by providing stabilization. Reduces total road maintenance costs. Provides a real return on investment. Proven technology for over 70 years.

How does Roadmaster Calcium Chloride Work to Control Dust? Roadmaster Calcium Chloride is a clear, odorless solution that can easily be applies year round. It coats the fines particles in the road as well as the aggregate causing increased cohesion, allows high-density compaction and improved durability of the surface. It s hydroscopic property allows it to draw moisture from the atmosphere and soils thus resisting evaporation for long periods. It is deliquescent and uniformly penetrates the roadway surface with much less tracking than lignosulfonate.

How Roadmaster Calcium Chloride Works to Stabilize Keeps fines in place. Fines are the cementing materials for the aggregates of the unpaved surface and base. Provides cohesiveness by adding to surface tension of water for greater density. Maintains optimum moisture. Facilitates maximum density by compaction. Provides frost protection. Lowers freezing point of water. Reduces voids. Controls moisture content.

Benefits from Dust Control with Roadmaster Calcium Chloride Saves money compared to alternatives. Eliminates watering / reduces application frequency. Less overall road maintenance by reducing rock loss and frequency of balding. Reduces equipment wear and maintenance. Safety through better visibility. Increases comfort of workers and residents. Eliminates health hazard posed by dust. Safely increases travel / haul productivity due to maintainable speeds. Environmentally kind / safe.

Benefits From Stabilization with Roadmaster Calcium Chloride Safer & better quality surfaces. Reduced road maintenance costs. Less aggregate loss. Fewer bladings. Fewer spot repairs. Less frost damage. Reduction on the overall wear and tear of all equipment used to maintain the road as well as any vehicle that travels the road. Example: blade wear, tire wear, filters and shocks. Fuel and man-hour savings on re-work.

Roadmaster Calcium Chloride Beats All Alternatives on both Performance and Price Water Waste Brines Mag Chloride Lignosulfonate

Roadmaster Calcium Chloride compared to Water Roadmaster Infrequent and less costly total applications. Moisture held in road to retain fines and aggregate. Road stabilized for long life. Water Frequent applications which are equipment and labor intensive. Dampens road surface temporarily then quickly evaporates and dust returns. Road continues to deteriorate and is never stabilized.

Roadmaster Calcium Chloride compared to Magnesium Chloride Roadmaster Remains a solution at much higher temperatures and low relative humidities thus resisting evaporation on hot, dry days. Less Roadmaster required per application. Also less frequent applications. Manufactured to ASTM specifications. Shipped and available in higher concentrations. Magnesium Chloride Similar to CaCl, but begins to lose the ability to attract moisture and resists evaporation at temps lower than 72 deg F. Independent studies show equal dust effectiveness requires 18% more MgCl per unit area.

Roadmaster Calcium Chloride compared to Lignosulfonate Roadmaster Less Expensive. Good surface traction. Easy equipment clean up and little surface tracking. Dense, thicker stabilized road. Less frequent application required since it remains active and retains moisture. Can be bladed as required. Lignosulfonate Expensive. Surface slippery when wet. Gums up equipment and tracks. Potholing and cracked crust. Short life, repeated applications. Cannot be bladed without breaking up.

Roadmaster Calcium Chloride compared to Waster Brines Roadmaster Manufactured under quality control and meets ASTM specifications. Infrequent applications. Binds fines and aggregate with moisture taken from air and soil. CaCl is necessary to vegetation and soil. Less chlorides in environment. Waste Brines Byproduct / mixture of components. Low percentages of active ingredients requiring more frequent applications. Not hydroscopic Short term effectiveness. Many brines are harmful to vegetation and soil. More chlorides in environment.

Environmental Review Roadmaster Calcium Chloride offers far more benefits to the environment and personal health and safety than doing nothing at all to control dust. Air quality improvements far outweigh any environmental concerns. Roadmaster Calcium Chloride stays in the roadway. Estimated 5% lateral movement to shoulder. Roadmaster Calcium Chloride beneficial to vegetation. Both Calcium and Chloride are nutrients for crops.

Guidelines for Roadmaster Treatment of Unpaved Roads Cut grass on shoulders, pull ditches, scarify or cut out potholes where necessary and add new / required aggregate. When road has hard crust due to prior treatment from a petrochemical product, scarify to a depth ratio of 3 parts untreated soil to 1 part treated. Grade to a modified A Crown with slopes of ½ inch per foot with proper drainage of water. Apply Roadmaster Calcium Chloride surface application after grading. Compaction is accomplished by roller or normal traffic depending on the road materials.

Roadmaster Calcium Chloride Application Rates for Dust Control Liquid Form 30-39% Roadmaster solution. Apply uniformly by applicator or water wagon..36 gallons of 38% solution per square yard.

Conclusion Working with Roadmaster Calcium Chloride is very routine, without the need for any unusual equipment. Application is simple. Easily adaptable to existing road maintenance programs. Provides dust control at lowest total cost. Improves road quality by providing stabilization benefits. Reduces total road maintenance costs. Increases safety.
