Nuclear Energy

I think that we should continue to have nuclear energy. But in order to keep the nuclear energy we need to be smarter on how we use it and where we put them. It can be really helpful, but natural disasters don't always happen, so I think the chance are good that there will be more good things than bad thinks with nuclear energy.

What I know (or think I know) about deforestation What I think What the Articles say Was I right Usually located in a forest or a place with a lot of trees like a woods. It's the process of chopping down trees. Cattle ranchers, soy farms and loggers are cutting down trees to build room for development. The government is encouraging to deforestation. My general idea was correct, it's when humans cut down trees. Reasons it is beneficial Usually we get paper from the trees we are cutting down. There is more room to put like other buildings like a restaurant or a house. After the people cut down the trees and send them to Asia, so we good for cheap. There is more room to expand on. I was also correct, we cut down the trees get goods out of it like paper, furniture, pencils, etc. Reasons it is harmful It's destroying the previous animals homes. When you are destroying trees there is less oxygen in the air. Your cutting down a resource that is rapidly being cut down all over the world Sometimes you can be breaking the law by cutting down the trees. I was correct again, we are destroying animals homes and when the trees are gone we won't have any oxygen.

Adapt Get money from trees Rich and plentiful Chopping, shipping, selling He cut the trees down as fast as Paul Bunyan Trading Modify Depend Soil:grass::Clouds:Rain Money:Debt::soil:Sky

What I know (or think I know) about desertification Reasons it is beneficial What I think What the Articles say Was I right It's typically in a humid and dry region It's pretty much the process in which land turns into a desert Humid plants can grow there like catus and some other desert plants. Water is only limited to plants, so the plants will grow big. Result of raising population Fossil fuels aren't the only thing causing climate change 2/3 of the world is desertification Water evaporates into the air Most soil in grassland is part of this. Livestock cause the soil to be bare To many animals can be a cause of this like elephants. If grass doesn't biologically decay then the grass and the soil will die. Some animals can live in these areas but not a lot There will be more livestock so that we stop desertification and have more food. I was wrong it's not just in humid areas it's over 2/3 of the world. But it's correct that it's the process of the formation of a desert. I somewhat right but there will be more livestock like cattle to stop desertification.

Reasons it is harmful There is no big bodies of water, so humans are in trouble if they are stuck in one without any water. It's hard to build buildings on the desert land. Not a whole lot of other animals like elephants can't be on that type of land If we just keep trying to build trees then we 2/3 of the land will be like a desert. I was correct that there wouldn't be many bodies of water because they dry up. Desertification is caused mostly by depend because when there is no livestock stomping on the grass then the grass won't trap the water in the ground. So we depend on the cattle to help stop this issue. Modify also plays a part as the dry season coming, but it's the biggest reason.

What I know (or think I know) about coral reefs and the destruction of them What I think What the Articles say Was I right Coral reefs are usually located at the bottom of the ocean. The destruction has to do something with the fish too. Reefs are located at the bottom of the sea/ocean and are located all over the world They are generally all very pretty to look and all are different shapes and sizes They give home to different species and filter our water. My generally idea was correct but reefs destruction doesn't have much too do with fish. Reasons it is beneficial There's more room at the bottom of the ocean it makes the ocean look very pretty. That's one of the reasons why people to the ocean, is to scuba dive and look at the beautiful ocean. It makes everyone happy if they are in the ocean. It was correct that reefs make the ocean or sea very pretty and very diverse in a way. Reasons it is harmful It can harm the fish if you destroy the reefs When the reefs are destroyed it can pollute the water. It can be destroyed if not taken care of the right way, Which means if the reefs get destroyed then maybe some of the fishes homes can be destroyed too. I was wrong about polluting the water but it can change the fish because it could be there home that is being destroyed.

Questions 1) Identify the man who took pictures of the reefs? The man is named Manuel Gonzalez Rivero. 2) List the area with the least amount of reefs? The Caribbean Sea are has the least amount of reefs. 3) Explain why there are less reefs in the Caribbean Sea? Humans fish and use the waters so much that it somewhat destroys the reefs. 4) Describe why humans destroy reefs? Well most humans don't even know they're destroying the reefs in the first place because they pollution. 5) Contrast the Reefs in the Caribbean and the Australian? Reefs in the Caribbean are starting to become a graveyard and the Australian reefs are starting to bloom and now is the area with the most reefs. 6) Imagine what the reefs will look like in 20 years from now? I feel like the Caribbean Sea will start to get a little more reefs but not much, but over by Australia, there will be more and more reefs

What I know (or think I know) about oil spills What I think What the Articles say Was I right Oil spills can really damage the fish and animals in the water. Usually when there's a oil spill there 100 of gallons be spills in the water or land. 11 millions of oil spilled into Valdez The lesson learning from Exxon was forgotten in 2010 Spills can occur when they hit objects like reefs I was correct on how oil spills can damage the environment and the community Reasons it is beneficial Oil spills are beneficial by we learn to build oil lines better and become more aware of this We took some information about the Exxon spill. Rules were made to have double barrel ships for oil. We still are learning form these disasters but when they occur it because we're being lazy not enforcing them I was correct that we do become more aware of these spills and try and prevent it.

Reasons it is harmful When the oil spills you can hurt the land/water and the animals/fish in or on it. And you lose,a lot of money when there is a oil spill Oil can damage rocks, animals, and plants. Oil spills can also damage a community where the spill occurred. When there is a oil spill the company that spilled it can be damaged in reputation and in money. I was correct that it pretty much destroys the environment The Valdez oil spill The 2010 oil spill Caused many people to leave their homes so the community was destroyed too Many people were mad that innocent animals were being killed of this. The Captian was drinking The ship crashed in to a reef Not learning our lesson from Exxon lesson There was a oil spill in 2010 because we were lazy to enforce them.

What I know (or think I know) about pollution What I think What the Articles say Was I right Pollution can can occur on land or in water And it can hurt animals and fish Pollution is destroying the environment as we know it Humans are being in danger because of this I was correct that pollution destroyed the environment Reasons it is beneficial There's not much benefit of pollution besides its the easy way out, but there is some laws we get out of it and education of pollution. There is acts to try and stop this pollution nonsense I was correct that people are trying to end pollution throughout the world.

Reasons it is harmful It's very harmful to the environment and the people and things that live in it Pollution can be the cause of global warming It's hard to breathe in badly polluted air that they can't exercise in. I was correct that it's very harmful to humans and environment. 1. Explain why is this school sports class taking place in an airtight dome. Because the air is so bad outside they can't breathe it in. 2. List 3 ways people have adapted to the pollution in Beijing. They were gas masks, they stay indoors, and they exercise in airtight domes. 3. Describe what I would see walking around Beijing. How is this different from the United States? You wouldn't be able to see the sky unlike in the U.S. 4. Predict how life will continue to change for people living in Beijing. What will they have to do to keep living there? If this continues in Beijing more and more people will get sick and maybe even a disease can spread. 5. How quickly has the environment in Beijing deteriorated? The Beijing gets deteriorated quickly. 6. What do you think about the new government policies, laws and regulations? Will they help the situation in Beijing? Why or why not? They will start to have strict policies the pollution. 7. Describe 2 of the proposed "fixes" for Beijing's air pollution. The breathing bicycle, to help stop pollution. They are also using smog particles to suck them out of the ground. 8. List how Beijing prepared for the 2008 Olympic Games. What are your thoughts about this? They tried clearing it up and brought in troops to protect them. 9. Compare and Contrast Beijing to Topeka (or Kansas City or any other major city). Explain why Beijing is so much worse. There is more companies in Beijing than in Topeka and say more people. 10. Recommend a path that Beijing could take to improve their situation. What would you do? They need to start shutting down some of the polluting buildings and start being clean.
