vision+ Goodman are committed to creating sustainable developments which balance environmental impact with economic benefits. This brochure outlines Goodman s ongoing commitment to sustainable development. We continue to strive to achieve truly sustainable developments as technologies develop and become more attainable for business and industry. We believe that the greatest successes will be achieved through partnerships, which is why we will continue to work closely with our customers and the wider industry to identify and deliver more sustainable developments.

approach+ We work closely with our customers to provide flexible solutions on an individual project-by-project basis. We believe in a flexible, project-by-project approach ensuring we work alongside our customers to provide innovative solutions to suit individual requirements, whilst helping balance environmental, social and economic factors. We adopt a flexible approach that is not constrained by a template standard or specification, but one that can adapt to the specific requirements and aims of an individual project. We have a long term interest in our buildings through Goodman s own+develop+manage strategy. By designing and planning for the life of a building, we can assess the balance of cost / benefit to deliver innovative solutions that provide efficiencies and lead to substantial energy savings.

track record+ Our experience and global capability enables us to deliver individual requirements in an ever changing industry. We assess all new UK buildings against the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM). While we are not constrained by a template standard, we aim to achieve a BREEAM rating of Excellent wherever possible, and will achieve a BREEAM rating of Very Good as an absolute minimum on all new buildings. We implement the requirements of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive and assess the operational energy performance of all new buildings. We aim to achieve an EPC rating of A and will achieve an absolute minimum rating of B on all new buildings. In becoming a member of the UK Green Building Council, Goodman is committed to supporting the Council in its mission to dramatically improve the sustainability of the built environment by radically transforming the way it is planned, designed, constructed, maintained and operated. The following two pages demonstrate our track record in delivering sustainable solutions.

Closed Loop Recycling+ Dagenham The combination of energy efficiency and renewable measures has reduced the potential operational related greenhouse gas emissions by over 50%. Closed Loop Recycling in Dagenham is the UK s first food grade plastics recycling business. The facility avoids the unnecessary disposal or export of 35,000 tonnes of mixed plastics each year. Goodman led the development to provide flexible industrial and office space with the added benefits of sustainably orientated features appropriately designed to fit with the credentials of the business. Sustainable Surroundings Integrating biodiversity into design provides habitats for insects and reduces run-off water from the development. Whole Life Concept Construction methods and materials are important elements in all our buildings and examples of sustainable features include a recyclable frame and recycled aggregate blockwork. Sustainable Energy Use The final solution is designed to improve energy use benefiting both environmental and practical performance during operation. Key examples of features for this site include natural ventilation, natural and efficient artificial lighting and sun pipes, building orientation for efficient cooling and solar water heating. Sustainable Energy Production Analysing the available renewable resource allowed the sensible exploitation of sustainable energy available for this site. Features include wind turbines to produce electricity, photovoltaic panels that convert sunlight to electricity, and a solar thermal unit provides some hot water for the building. 50% reduction Reduction of potential operational energy related greenhouse gas emissions by over 50%.

Sustainable Industries Park+ Dagenham When complete the park will become home to the UK s largest concentration of environmental industries and technologies. In September 2009 Goodman was appointed as development partner by the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation for the development of its flagship Sustainable Industries Park in Dagenham. The decision to choose Goodman reflects our proven track record in delivering sustainable buildings at other major developments. The Park extends to over 50 acres and will be the UK s first park to support the development of new environmental technologies, supply renewable energy and recycle and process waste products. All of the buildings at the Park will achieve a minimum BREEAM rating of Excellent. The on site infrastructure will be designed to maximise potential for buildings to benefit from low carbon and renewable energy supplies, and encourage the use of public transport and other green modes of transport. This will be promoted through the life of the Park by the ongoing day-to-day involvement of Goodman s in-house Park management team who will ensure synergies between occupiers are exported wherever possible.
