8 Recent coal produc0on data In 2008: 469 Kentucky coal mines produced 120 million tons of coal Underground: 216 mines, 69 million tons Surface: 253 mines, 51 million tons (more visibility and more mines, but less produc0on) How does that compare to the rest of the country?
