2 PNOC - Company Background Corporate arm of the Department of Energy Created through Presiden7al Decree (PD) 334 on November 9, 1973 as a government-owned and controlled corpora7on Ini7al purpose is to address na7onal energy security and sustainability concerns in response to the energy-supply crisis of the 1970s. Scope of opera7on was later expanded by PD 927 to include promo7ng the explora7on and development of oil and other indigenous energy resources. Created a number of subsidiaries in energy development 2

6 PNOC IniAaAves Batangas-to-Manila Natural Gas Pipeline Project (BatMan1) BatMan1 is a natural gas infrastructure project to be implemented by PNOC covering about 122 kilometers of pipeline from Batangas to Metro Manila. This will be used to distribute natural gas to targeted markets located in the high-growth and fast developing areas of Batangas, Laguna, Cavite and Metro Manila.
