Stormwater Solutions from Contech Selecting the Right Stormwater Solution Just Got Easier... It s simple to choose the right low impact development (LID) solution to achieve your runoff reduction goals with the Contech UrbanGreen Staircase. First, select the runoff reduction practices that are most appropriate for your site, paying particular attention to pretreatment needs. If the entire design storm cannot be retained, select a best management practice (BMP) to treat the balance. Finally, select a detention system to address any outstanding downstream erosion. Learn more about all of our stormwater technologies at Contech Engineered Solutions LLC UrbanGreen Rainwater Harvesting Flexible Runoff Reduction Solution LID strives to eliminate runoff by reducing impervious area and infiltrating wherever practical. If your site has high groundwater, soils with low permeability, bedrock, or other limiting conditions, infiltration alone may not provide enough runoff reduction to meet regulations. That s when rainwater harvesting is an important tool to help meet runoff reduction requirements. With the UrbanGreen Rainwater Harvesting System, you have all the components to build an efficient and effective water re-use or runoff reduction integrated management practice. Our fully integrated system will save you time and money because you ll get everything you need with one phone call. Benefits: Turn-key system from single provider Complete sizing and engineering support Easy installation Flexible systems with many options Rainwater Harvesting System warranty and ongoing maintenance service 2

Protect Vital RWH Systems Proven Pollutant Removal Pretreating harvested water prior to storage protects downstream pumps, filters, and fixtures from damage or clogging, and lowers cleaning and maintenance costs by keeping pollutants out of the cistern and mechanical system. Contech offers a number of pretreatment devices including. CDS The CDS hydrodynamic separator is the preferred rainwater harvesting pretreatment device. CDS is an underground stormwater treatment device that uses swirl concentration and continuous deflective separation to screen, separate and trap trash, debris, sediment, and hydrocarbons from stormwater runoff. With CDS there is no need for first flush diversion, so no water is wasted. CDS The Stormwater Management StormFilter StormFilter StormFilter uses rechargeable, media-filled cartridges absorb and retain the most challenging target pollutants including dissolved metals, hydrocarbons, and nutrients metals and other common pollutants found in stormwater runoff. JellyFish Filter The Jellyfish Filter is an engineered Stormwater quality treatment technology featuring pretreatment and membrane filtration in a compact stand-alone treatment system, which removes a high level and a wide variety of stormwater pollutants. 8 UrbanGreen Tanks DuroMaxx SRPE Technology The UrbanGreen Rainwater Harvesting tank is made from DuroMaxx Steel Reinforced Polyethylene (SRPE). The eighty (80) ksi steel reinforcing ribs provide the strength and pressure rated polyethylene (PE) resin provides the durability. The combination of materials results in an extraordinarily strong and durable below ground cistern. Available up to 120 diameter Includes prefabricated access points Lightweight - easily handled and quickly installed, often without the use heavy construction equipment H-25 traffic rated design Contech s UrbanGreen Rainwater Harvesting tanks have been certified to be in compliance with the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC ) by The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) Research and Testing. Engineers can now write specifications for rainwater harvesting tanks based on a nationally recognized standard that address issues such as structural design, leakage, and repeatable manufacturing processes. Contech is only one of two companies that have received IAPMO/UPC certification for rainwater harvesting tanks. 120 Steel Reinforced Polyethylene Tank Tank standard details available at INTAKE INTAKE Typical underground tank components 8

Yakult Manufacturing, Fountain Valley, California Project Summary The new facility for probiotic drink manufacturer Yakult called for the design and construction of a stormwater management system that would meet local Low Impact Development (LID) regulations. The consulting engineer and landscape architect worked with Contech to develop two rainwater harvesting systems to capture and reuse runoff from roof tops, parking lots, and other impervious surfaces and use the runoff for irrigation. Project Highlights Two CDS hydrodynamic separators to pretreat stormwater prior to storage. The first system uses a cistern made from four barrels of 696 of 48 diameter DuroMaxx SRPE. The second system uses five barrels of 520 of 48 diameter DuroMaxx SRPE. Integrated mechanical systems with an exterior cabinet, variable frequency drive submersible pump, 100 micron screening filter, and a color touchscreen display system controller with level monitoring and city water makeup control. Client Testimonial Contech gave us the ability to get a complete packaged solution, with all the componentry from a single source, said Craig Di Bias of Joseph C. Truxaw & Associates. Contech is known for standing behind their products. The project won the ENR Award for Southern California s Best Manufacturing Project in 2014 Learn more at 9

Dallas Arboretum Rory Meyers Children s Adventure Garden, Dallas, Texas Project Summary The Dallas Arboretum s Rory Meyers Children s Adventure Garden incorporates many sustainable features, including an UrbanGreen rainwater harvesting system from contech that provides water for irrigation. Contech worked with engineers at Pacheco Koch to design a system consisting of a CDS hydrodynamic separator, two DuroMaxx SRPE cisterns, and mechanical pumps and controls. Project Highlights A CDS hydrodynamic separator to pretreat stormwater prior to storage. Two 96 diameter DuroMaxx cisterns providing 50,000 gallons of storage. Integrated mechanical system with an exterior cabinet, submersible pump, 100 micron screening filter with auto flush, and a system controller with level monitoring and city water makeup control. 10

Oceano Warner Center, Woodland Hills, California Project Summary Oceano Warner Center is a 244 unit, 5.8 acre apartment complex located in Woodland Hills, California. Water and energy conserving technologies and practices were incorporated into the site to reduce the community s carbon footprint. The 3.57 acre construction site was challenging because it consisted of 85% impervious surface and included 48,778 SF of landscaping. Engineers originally looked at retention as a way to control stormwater, but rainwater harvesting was chosen as it provided the runoff reduction required by the Community of Woodland Hills in the City of Los Angeles. Project Highlights A CDS hydrodynamic separator for pretreatment. A 500 long, 96 diameter, DuroMaxx cistern provides 188,000 gallons of storage. Contech provided all of the pumps and controls, providing a turn-key system from a single provider. Two additional CDS units to treat runoff from roadways not collected in the cistern. Oceano Warner Center was honored as the Best New Construction in Los Angeles by the California Apartment Association and is LEED Silver Certified Learn more at 11
