17 Wooldolmog (VAT-Helical) Uldolmok Helical TCP In 2003, the first 100KW VAT helical TCP has been installed in Uldolmok by KORDI. After the test period, the 1MW prototype TCP system has been designed to be installed by However, due to the maximum of 6m/s current speed, it has been delayed. The 1MW helical TCP has been installed in May It is planned to expand to 50MW facility by 2018 in Uldolmok. Also there is plan to install 150MW TCP facility in Jangjook straight, 250MW Manggol straight.

19 100KW Floating TCP 100KW HAT Floating TCP From 2006, a 100KW HAT floating TCP has been designed and fabricated by the consortium of Ocean Space Inc., Inha University, KOSEP and Samho heavy industry Inc. To be installed in 2008 in Daebang straight. But not practiced from the opposition from the local community. The first HAT TCP has been installed in April 2010 at Myo-do but it was wet from the flange connection failure. Work Deck(10m 13m), Conc. Anchor block, Steel Pontoon & Tension wires

20 100KW TCP Field Test 100KW HAT Floating TCP In May 2011, the 100KW TCP device has been tested by towing. The performance of the device was recorded and compared with numerical simulation.

21 Handong helical application Hadong helical device In 2006, South power company has installed 24.5KW VAT helical power device at the cooling weir, Hadong power facility. After the first try, a 35KW helical flow current power device was installed. The device has produced 39KW at 3.6m/s with rotor efficiency of 30%

22 Wando TCP plan Wando TCP KOMIPO and Cheonla nam-do has made a MOU to install 1MW device in 2009 and develop 300MW TCP farm by Lunar Energy was to introduce their devices in the region. However, it has been postponed due to the lower current speed measured than expected.

23 Daibang TCP project Daibang TCP Feasibility study From Dec to Dec. 2008, a feasibility study has been conducted in Daebang and Namhae areas by Inha University with support by KETEP and KOSEP. From this study, the appropriate type and size of TCP system were proposed for the areas with the quantity of power estimated. In 2010, Kyongsang province and KOSEP have agreed to develop this area with around 50 million USD. A 20MW TCP farm in between Chansun-do and Neak-do was proposed.

24 Daibang TCP project Daibang TCP Feed back Intensive ocean survey : MultiBeam Echo Sounder Survey, Side scan Sonar, Sub-bottom profiling survey, Current meter, tide level., diver, etc. Area selection : ship channels, fishing area, artificial fish house, subsea cable, pipeline, history (archeological) area, military area, future development area, etc. Feasibility study : 50MW TCP farm area, type of device, size and number of device, optimization of multi array arrangement, total power capacity, annual production, B/C ratio for 20, 30 years for various SMP and FIT. Permissions and approvals : Related government bodies, local government, Local public hearing : local community (old fishermen), global warming, government policies on renewable energies, Tokyo protocol, international trend on new energies, research activities, etc. Fail to get the local people s agreement
