7 Our mandate Identify needs and gaps Increased availability of knowledge for evidencebased decision making Improved understanding of issues related to environment and health More effective application of research and evidence in policy and practice Synthesize, translate, and exchange knowledge Strong engagement of practitioners, policymakers and policymakers More knowledge to better inform practitioners and policy makers More effective, efficient and better targeted services Build capacity and networks Foster network development for sharing evidence-based resources, best practices, lessons learned Reduced burden of illness from environmental hazards and the built environment in population

8 Making cities healthy for people Physicalenvironmental data Health in Environmental Impact Assessment Tools Population survey data Quantified ergonomic data Socio-demographic data

9 Knowledge translation Helps make health research more relevant and useful, and to move research into practice and policy Compile and synthesize evidence: scope issues, conduct literature review, incorporate tacit knowledge Produce tools and guidance documents to support best practice Facilitate knowledge sharing and capacity building concerning these issues and situations
