Describe your Drinking-Water System The water source for the community Lynden is ground water and services a population approximately 380. The Lynden water supply system consists one 200 mm diameter, approximately 54 meter deep drilled ground water well FDL01. Untreated water enters a dual cell reservoir in which compressed air is diffused into the first cell to reduce the levels hydrogen sulfide in the water before chlorine (sodium hypochlorite) disinfection is carried out in the second cell. A secondary chlorine injection point is provided after primary disinfection to boost chlorine residual levels, when necessary, before the treated water goes to the distribution system. Continuous chlorine residual analyzer and a turbidity analyzer are provided to monitor water quality. Fluoridation is not carried out at the Lynden communal well system. Page 1 5

2 List all water treatment chemicals used over this reporting period Sodium hypochlorite Were any significant expenses incurred to? [ X ] Install required equipment [ X ] Repair required equipment [ X ] Replace required equipment Please provide a brief description and a breakdown monetary expenses incurred. A project to upgrade the chlorine and electrical systems at the Pumping Station (HD05B) was completed in These upgrades were completed at a cost $300,000. Provide details on the notices submitted in accordance with subsection 18(1) the Safe Drinking-Water Act or section 16-4 Schedule 16 O.Reg.170/03 and reported to Spills Action Centre.
