Course Description The course introduces about wastes and overviews of waste management; Municipal solid waste and its management; Historical aspects; Generation of solid wastes; sources and types of solid wastes; composition of municipal solid wastes; generation rates; waste Management hierarchy; waste minimization; prevention and reduction strategies; waste management methods (recycling, reuse, composting, landfill, incineration), energy recovery from wastes. It also covers introduction to hazardous wastes, life cycle assessment and integrated waste management. 13.
