11 Objective: Energy Efficiency Reduce the overall energy consumption and offset 100% of the energy consumed during the event
12 Outcome: Energy Efficiency Renewable energy was sourced through Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). In 2017, 11 REC s were purchased from Pretoria Zoo in Gauteng to power the show. Exhibitors could buy Mini Recs Energy efficient lights (LEDs). Encouraging all exhibitors to turn off the power to their stands at the end of each day.

16 Outcome: Water conservation water coolers, biodegradable cups surcharge on bottled water surcharge used in carbon-offset programme. In 2017, a total of 104 bottles of water were sold, which contributed to the planting of 8 trees

27 Outcome: Transport Management Voluntary carbon offset programme 126 trees were purchased by exhibitors and suppliers in support of Meetings Africa s sustainable programme. Tweet for a Tree campaign was introduced. For every 10 tweets using the #MeetingsAfrica17 a tree was donated to the offset programme. This initiative raised 68 trees.
