The instrument will ask the user to con rm the rst calibration point before prompting the second point. To perform a one point calibration, press CAL after the rst point has been con rmed. After con rming the rst calibration point, the instrument prompts the user to immerse the electrode in the second buffer (slope). The instrument will ask you to con rm the reading. 9

When this comparison indicates a signi cant difference, the clean message blinks on the LCD to advise the user that the ph electrode may need to be cleaned and another calibration will need to be performed. 10

This could be the result of a broken electrode, or an electrode which needs to be cleaned. Also, the buffer solution quality could have been compromised and may need to be changed.

The buffer is certified with NIST standards. 4.01Buffer Solutions For maximum reliability choose from our solutions that meet FDA standards that protect them from extended exposure to light. 9.18Buffer Solutions HANNA s ph 4.01 buffer is standardized with NIST references. 29 Solutions Electrode Storage Solutions To minimize junction clogging and ensure fast response time, always keep the glass bulb and the junction of your ph electrode moist. Store the electrode with a few drops of HI storage or ph 7.01 buffer solution in the protective cap. General Cleaning Solutions Clean the liquid junction of your electrodes once a day or at least once a week to prevent junction clogging and to maintain accuracy. Immerse the electrode in the proper cleaning solution for at least minutes. HANNA offers a wide range of cleaning solutions, for general purpose and speci c applications to dissolve many deposits from the electrode, and thus ensure correct measurements. 28
