The FAG solution comprises two axial bearing washers and a ball and cage assembly with either a plastic or sheet steel cage. In the basic design, the axial bearing washers are punched, through hardened and polished and both sides can be used as a raceway. The size can be individually matched to the application.

7 ... and innovative surface coatings Depending on the application, we apply suitable coatings either to the entire surface of our high-precision parts and rolling bearings or on a component-by-component basis. Reducing friction. Lowering friction and the energy savings associated with this is indispensable for the development of energy-efficient machines. This is achieved at the Schaeffler Group by applying suitable coatings to the cages of rolling bearings, for example. Anti-wear protection. Various coatings can be used to provide anti-wear protection depending on the type and intensity of the stresses involved. Applying a DLC (diamondlike carbon) layer to large rolling elements can prevent slippage damage and therefore increase the life of the bearing many times over. Phosphate coatings have also proven themselves as very reliable in ensuring the non-locating bearing function and in providing protection against fretting corrosion.
