Similarly, the other regional offices fall under th U L B management practices. At plant locations, we have set up Sewage Treatment Plants to treat the colony waste. The treated water of STP is utilized in the cement process or gardening. Plant solid waste is collected and used for composting. The e-waste is sent to the authorized recycler. c) Hazardous Waste Management Cement industry per say has limited quantities of its own hazardous waste. The same is sent for disposal through licensed hazardous waste handling companies. On the other hand, our cement plants help other manufacturing industries to dispose-off their hazardous waste by using it either as alternative fuel in cement kiln or alternative raw material in cement production. d) Recycling and reuse of waste Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited is one of the best in global cement world in using waste material as alternative raw material. About 32% of our raw material used for cement making has waste origin. We are helping the coal based thermal power plants and steel manufacturing units of the country to dispose their waste i.e. fly ash and slag by using it as a raw material in cement production. We are also using Petroleum Coke as a main kiln fuel. This is a waste from refinery and it helps in reduction of limestone waste at our captive mines due to its low ash content. e) Industry participation in construction of public/community toilets and to the effective behavioral change regarding healthy sanitation practices And f) I Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited is a member company of WASH Pledge of WBCSD.
