10 WATER SYSTEMS OPERATION REPORT NOVEMBER 2018: CROSS CONNECTION CONTROL: 23 back flow assemblies remain to be tested before the end of the year. We are scheduled to complete all testing by November 30, 2018 MAIN BREAK/LEAKS: No main breaks to report. No distribution system leaks to report. CARBON TREATMENT PLANT: ATEC FILTERS: We are scheduled to gently backwash the lead carbon vessel this month. The UV-245 test results in October indicate the friendly bacterium we have been looking for may be growing. Vessel pressure differential has reached the level that requires backwashing. The water department will be shipping the Carbon Acceptance Canister to Calgon this month for analysis prior to Carbon replacement. The Atec Treatment Plant is working at peak efficiency. We will be putting the ATEC filters on a manual backwash cycle as the ATEC controller has lost the ability to backwash based on volume and the time triggered backwash does not allow us to extend a backwash beyond 4-5 days. Backwash water color indicates that 4-5 days is too frequent during our low volume winters. WATER TREATMENT: 12 Lead and Copper samples were collected on 9/18/18, all samples were below the action level. At least 2 samples must be above the action level before the water system would be required to take remedial action. WATER SYSTEM OPERATIONS: The water department installed dehumidifiers in the booster pump room and the manifold room. The condensation problems in both rooms has been completely resolved. The Totalizer for the water pumped to the distribution has exceeded 1 million total gallons and will need to be reset/recalibrated. The water department is now performing routine rebuilds on the chemical feed pumps as needed. This saves some time and money shipping pumps out for rebuild. Any repairs beyond replacing the seals, diaphragms, and valves however requires shipment to a repair shop. CONSERVATION RATE: No member exceeded the water use conservation cap for this month. Notice will go out shortly to notify members of the lowered conservation cap and that there is no longer a fee for turning water service on and off during business hours. EDUCATION: April will be attended a Backflow Assembly Tester refresher class on October 17, 2018 and a Backflow Assembly Tester renewal test on October 19, Justin will be attended a Water Treatment Plant Operator class on October 24 and 25, Gil will be attended a Department of Labor and Industries required 40-hour Supervisor/Competent Person Asbestos Cement Pipe class from October 29 to November 2, 2018 in Everett Washington. Toby and April will be attending a Department of Labor and Industries required Asbestos Cement Pipe class in January WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT: The crew has replaced 5,490 lineal feet of water main in division 14 & 15 through October In addition, they have installed 28 valves, 3 fire hydrants, 2 air release valves, and 2,440 lineal feet of right-of-way. 11/07/2018 Page 10 of 10
