WCC Greenhouse Gas Inventory

WCC Greenhouse Gas Emissions by Source (%)

WCC Greenhouse Gas Emissions by Sector, Changes 2003 to 2014 Electricity 84% increase Natural Gas 71% increase Enrollment - 19% increase Building Space 40% increase

WCC Greenhouse Gas Inventory 2014 The WCC CO2 emissions goal is to reduce its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to zero by the year 2060 (about 2% levels per year). CO2 emissions vary somewhat with student enrollment, building space and weather. Since 2003, WCC s CO2 emissions have increased almost 40% (3.6% per year). Since 2008, CO2 emissions have increased by about 6% (about 1% per year).

WCC Greenhouse Gas Inventory 2014 WCC s CO2 emissions are higher and have increased faster than other two year colleges in ACUPCC Reducing emissions by purchasing carbon offsets, would cost $630,000 per year at today s prices (about $18/tonne). The college can meet its climate action goals and avoid the continued expense of carbon offsets, if individuals and the college make a serious commitment to: Reduce electricity and natural gas consumption, Generate electricity from carbon free renewable sources Reduce single occupant commuting by automobile.
