KeyChem-L represents the laboratory scale set up, whereas the CYTOS series of products provides the technical platform for pilot scale productions and other customized systems. Demonstration and rental equipment is available at our facilities in Germany. Feasability studies, custom synthesis and custom preparative HPLC separations are also available on request.

2 KeyChem-Basic Safe, green chemistry Various concepts are currently being established for continuous, micro-structured synthesis processes, such as microreaction technology, flow chemistry and flow reaction technology (FRT). Technology experts assume that about 30% of all syntheses worldwide can be optimised using continuous flow reaction technology to ensure more efficient, safer and greener chemistry. Micro-structured reactors and components allow reaction conditions that are difficult or completely impossible to achieve with traditional chemistry in flasks: for example, extremely exothermic reactions can be controlled easily and safely, due to the short retention times and faster heat transfer that are possible. Furthermore, microreactors can be operated at high pressure, which means that syntheses at super-critical conditions can lead to new types of reaction, ideally accompanied by improved yields, shorter reaction times and reduced energy consumption. With this in mind, YMC offers an extensive range of components and systems for initial exploratory studies, traditional research and development in the lab and scalable systems for use at pilot and/or production scale. The concept - for simple trials and teaching The YMC module principle enables you to combine various components that can be added to at any time. 3 Introductory Kit Application This example of a chemical reaction shows how Flow Reaction Technology can make your life easier. In batch synthesis one may find out that the products of the lithiation again react to undesired products. This is even to be monitored at low temperature. Flow Reaction systems are capable of improving the reaction selectivity dramatically. Dosing system The MR2 dosing system allows you to implement complex dosages for several components using automated multi-way valves. The system uses both Hamilton glass syringes and disposable syringes for corrosive, toxic or odorous reactants. It is illuminated by a protected high-intensity light source. 7 Production CYTOS-2000: The concept Pilot and production CYTOS is a modular system to produce larger quantities from a few hundred grams up to kilograms, depending on the synthesis process and the system setup. Larger scale production can be achieved by interconnecting several CYTOS modules (numbering up). Parallel use can turn a single CYTOS reactor into a high-performance production system. This concept has the advantage of maximum flexibility in running the system. If a reactor fails, a reserve system can take over its task without affecting the functioning of the system or, at worst, causing the system to fail. A customised selection of dose and temperature control components is available for CYTOS, which can be controlled using intuitive software with data recording. Customized design YMC is capable to give advice and support to customers who aim to scale up processes from Lab to production. This has always been one of the key factors that made YMC a successful and global acting company.
