1 Alberta Regulation 258/95 Alberta Heritage Scholarship Act ALBERTA HERITAGE SCHOLARSHIP AMENDMENT REGULATION Filed: October 25, 1995 Made by the Lieutenant Governor in Council (O.C. 672/95) pursuant to section 8 of the Alberta Heritage Scholarship Act. 1 The Alberta Heritage Scholarship Regulation (Alta. Reg. 293/81) is amended by this Regulation. 2 Section 1 is amended (a) in clause (a) by striking out The and substituting the ; (b) in clause (b) by striking out The Students Finance Act, 1976 and substituting the Students Finance Act ; (c) by repealing clause (c) and substituting the following: (c) educational institution means (i) a university under the Universities Act, (ii) the Banff Centre for Continuing Education under the Banff Centre Act, (iii) a public or private college under the Colleges Act, (iv) a school of nursing approved under the Nursing Profession Act, (v) a private vocational school under the Private Vocational Schools Act, (vi) a technical institute under the Technical Institutes Act, or (vii) an educational institution anywhere that is approved by the Board for the purposes of this Regulation; 3 The following is added after section 1: Fees 1.1 The Minister may charge such fees with regard to gifts or money received under section 2(2)(b) and (c) of the Act to cover the costs incurred by the Government in administering scholarships established through gifts and agreements referred to in those respective enactments as the Minister considers reasonable

REG. 258/95 ALBERTA HERITAGE SCHOLARSHIP 4 Section 2 is repealed. 5 Section 5(3) is amended (a) in clause (a) by striking out $2000 and substituting $1500 ; (b) in clause (b) by striking out $4000 and substituting $ Section 6 is amended (a) by repealing subsection (1)(a) and substituting the following: (a) fulfils the residency requirement set out in subsection (4), (b) by adding the following after subsection (3): (4) An applicant is not eligible to receive a portion of a scholarship under this section with respect to any grade unless the applicant was a resident throughout the whole of that grade. 7 Section 7 is repealed. 8 Section 9 is amended (a) by adding or at the end of subsection (1)(a); (b) by repealing subsection (1)(b); (c) in subsection (3)(a) and (b) by striking out his ; (d) in subsection (4) (i) in clauses (a) and (c) by striking out he and substituting that person ; (ii) by adding or at the end of clause (a)(i); (iii) by repealing clause (a)(ii); (iv) in clause (b) (A) by striking out his and substituting that person's ; (B) by striking out university, college or technical institute and substituting Board

REG. 258/95 ALBERTA HERITAGE SCHOLARSHIP 9 Sections 11, 11.1 and 11.2 are repealed. 10 Section 11.4(1) is repealed and the following is substituted: United World C o l l e g e Scholarships 11.4(1) The Board may grant up to 6 United World College two-year Scholarships in any year (allowing 6 first-year and 6 second-year students to participate at any given time) to students planning to enrol at United World Colleges. 11 Sections 11.6 and 11.7 are repealed. 12 Section is repealed. 13 Sections and are repealed. 14 Section 13 is amended by striking out scholarships, awards of distinction and prizes under this Regulation and substituting Alberta Heritage Scholarships. Transitional provisions 15(1) Notwithstanding the repeal of sections 2, 7, 11.2, 11.6, 11.7 and 11.94, where a person commenced to receive a scholarship or fellowship under any of those sections before the commencement of those sections, that person is eligible to continue to receive that scholarship or fellowship as if that section had not been repealed. (2) Notwithstanding section 11.4(1), all 8 persons who completed their first year in the United World College Scholarship in the academic year preceding the commencement of that subsection are entitled to scholarships in their second year in the following academic year. (3) Notwithstanding section 13, the $ limit imposed by that section is raised to $ for the fiscal year of the Government. 16 Section 15(3) is repealed. 17 Section 16 comes into force on April 1, Alberta Regulation 259/95 Mines and Minerals Act PRESCRIBED AMOUNTS (PETROLEUM ROYALTY)

Reg. 248/90). 1 The Prescribed Amounts (Petroleum Royalty) Regulation (Alta. Reg. 218/83) is amended by this Regulation. 2 Schedule 1 is amended (a) by repealing section 3(7), (8) and (9)(a) and substituting the following: (7) Calgary to Edmonton (a) All that portion of Highway Number 2 beginning from the south boundary of section 4, township 26, range 29, west of the fourth meridian (north corporate limit of Calgary), thence northerly along the highway to the north boundary of section 8,
