Conducted VA SWPPP inspection Pocahontas rd and Mystery ridge. All identified ECD failures have been repaired since last SWPPP inspection. rain events since last SWPPP inspection, all ECDs appear to be in good working condition. Met with Robin Reed and EI Jared Saunders on site at st# in regards to a slip of a cut bank/diversion berm that has occurred during ditching activities. Slip goes beyond LOD and based upon the recommendations of Robin Reed cannot be repaired until such a time that the ditch is closed. Environmental coordinator Mike Perry also on site. Met with Mike Perry, Dean Jensen and Danny McKay regarding ditching of drainage feature at st# A flume has been installed at the drainage feature, however, a complete lack of effort has been displayed as the flume is completely inoperable and will not capture and convey any water across the ditch. Additionally, the outlet of the flume was placed in such a way that it will discharge directly into the mat bridge and not into the conveyance feature. Topsoil has also been stripped and placed within the conveyance feature and not protected with silt fence. Should it have rained sediment would have been discharged off ROW. Crews are to backfill the ditch and restore the drainage feature to natural conditions. Spoke with Mike Perry regarding recommended lime and fertilizer mixes. Per page 17 of the annual standards, the rate to be applied is 4000lbs an acre of pulverized agricultural grade like, and 1000lbs an acre of fertilizer. Spoke with Brian Clauto regarding restoration efforts. Grass on the slope at Catawba from AR266 to where AR266 meets the ROW has sprouted and died. Contractor has not applied the correct fertilizer in this location based on the annual standards or the rates they have supplied to us stating what they will apply. Requests for the results of the soil samples continue to be denied as after several weeks of requesting them, they still have not been provided. Additional guidance from Brian Clauto has been requested. te: It is a condition of National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System and Erosion and Sediment permits that a maintenance program be conducted to provide for the operation and maintenance of all BMPs to be inspected on a weekly basis and after each stormwater event. Identify all remedial measures that have been taken since the previous inspection was conducted. Comments (Reference above questions as appropriate.) Conducted a VADEQ SWPPP inspection on area known as Brush Mountain. Winter stabilization was completed on 20/18 with all ECD maintenance needs addressed prior to hydro seeding. The area was found stable with controls in place. erosion issues were identified. I did not that germination is patchy and sparse in many areas with no growth evident at all near the S-HH18 ( ) crossing. The contractor hand seeded and mulched a one hundred foot buffer either side of the stream and additional ECDs were installed. Low average air and soil temperatures may slow sprouting and coverage. The contractor will be asked to remove the plastic coating from the pipe after it is determined that stabilization is successful. Monitoring of the site will continue. te: It is a condition of National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System and Erosion and Sediment permits that a maintenance program be conducted to provide for the operation and maintenance of all BMPs to be inspected on a weekly basis and after each stormwater event.
