25 Summary and Outlook Legislation and public opinion promote the trend to ecologically advantageous solutions. There is no common standard. The coatings and ink industries follow various routes. High performance additives can contribute significantly to the performance of ecologically advantagious coatings. Such additives can be synthetic and can be based on renewable raw materials. When developing such additives, compliance with various regulations need to be considered strongly. >> different ecolabels, VOC-contents, the absence of hazardous substances, possible food contact etc, has to be taken into account.
