Environmentally friendly and cost effective sludge handling - through a unique filter The greenest, most effective sludge handling in the industry Simple installation High level of efficiency Enables full utilisation of the facility (production can be increased without increasing emissions) Very low power consumption

About Blue Ocean Technology: Save money and the environment. At the same time. Jan Henning Legreid, founder and CEO. 25 years of experience in waste handling and business development. Hans J. Runshaug, founder and Chairman of the Board. 24 years of experience running his own company, Rucon AS, as well as directorships and management for hire. Extensive experience from the aquaculture industry, including 3 years as leader of larger fish farming company. Hans Runshaug og Jan Henning Legreid

The concept and the project The business concept is based on the fact that there is an increasing need for technology that reduces emissions while at the same time protecting the environment. This need exists already and it will increase in the future. There is a willingness to pay for greener, more efficient methods especially when they cost less. The work that needs to be done Land-based fish farms have a license from the environmental authorities regarding the regulation of faeces discharges. Drum filters are used to reduce the amount of faeces in the water before discharge. This process produces large volumes of wastewater, faeces and feed residue. The wastewater contains solids, typically %. A financially sound wastewater treatment requires an optimal sludge concentration. The water left over in the process is cleaned so that it is within the license requirements when it is discharged into the drainage system. The waste is re-used in whichever way it can be put to optimal use; through pyrolysis, composting and/ or biogas/energy. Blue Ocean Technology does the job.

Blue Ocean Technology: A method that saves space and is cost efficient The cleaning system is based on a well-known principle within oil and gas, where the use of organic cleaning techniques is long established. Our system is much less energy demanding than many of the thermal sludge treatment methods currently used in the aquaculture industry. The cleaning facility is simple and safe to operate, and even the cost in terms of investment and operational expenses is low. Our method is based on the use of a specially treated Canadian peat moss as a filter insert. The moss has an exceptional ability to absorb and attract environmental gases, micro-organisms and heavy metals, and even smell percent of the polluting substances are collected in the filter mass. Blue Ocean Technology has secured exclusive rights to supply this natural filter to the global aquaculture industry. The moss is environmentally certified and documented as sustainable in accordance with Canadian certification standards. The facility is module based and requires little space.

Blue Ocean Technology: Optional recycling methods that work Waste has a value: In some places the production of biogas is optimal. In other places efficient composting or pyrolysis is the best solution. Blue Ocean Technology has good recycling methods. In an open facility, the process is dictated by nature, and the waste is spread in the ocean through currents and natural water flows. In a closed facility on land, this requires methods for the cleaning and disposal of waste. Good cleaning solutions are crucial for the welfare and growth of the fish. In a medium-sized hatchery there are large quantities of waste that need to be cleaned on a continuous basis. The capacity is easily scalable. It is a formidable task. The requirements for uptime and degree of purity are high. And the consequences of a system failure are serious (disease, death).

Based on nature and certified as sustainable The cleaning system is based on a well-known principle within oil and gas, where the use of organic cleaning techniques is long established. Our system is much less energy demanding than many of the thermal sludge treatment methods currently used in the aquaculture industry. The cleaning facility is simple and safe to operate, and even the cost in terms of investment and operational expenses is low. The residual waste is ideal for re-use, either as compost, biogas or through pyrolysis. In fact, percent of the polluting substances are collected in the filter. Blue Ocean Technology has secured exclusive rights to supply this natural filter to the aquaculture industry. The moss is environmentally certified by the Canadian authorities. Furthermore, the flocculant used for effective removal of feed residues and faeces is a thickening agent approved by the food industry.

Environmentally friendly and cost effective sludge handling - from Blue Ocean Technology We offer the most cost effective method for increasing the solid content in wastewater to the desired level. The material remaining at the end of the process is the most useful for soil improvement or biogas. For RAS facilities, where the amount of drainage water is extremely limited, we offer both dewatering and the best cleaning treatment for a facility s overall emissions. We offer a complete concept that includes service agreements and sludge handling.
