2 As the world faces more and more challenges with ageing infrastructure, it is imperative for advocates of corrosion mitigation to unite and address the problem. Each year over 650 industry leaders from around the world come together at CORCON, in an effort to tackle corrosion issues, and inform participants of the latest solutions and methods. This year NACE International, the NACE Gateway India Section, and the NACE East Asia and Pacific Area, have joined forces to strengthen this premier event. 3 Addressing the IMPACT of Corrosion According to the NACE International IMPACT study the global cost of corrosion is estimated to be US$2.5 trillion, or 3.4% of the global Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Additionally the study discovers that by using available corrosion control practices, it is estimated that savings of between 15 to 35% of the cost of corrosion could be realized; i.e., between US$375 and $875 billion annually on a global basis. CORCON will discuss the IMPACT study s findings and feature presentations from international leaders to help attendees understand cost savings through utilizing corrosion control practices. 6 Join us at CORCON 2017 in Mumbai at the Sahara Star Mumbai CORCON 2017 will be hosted at the Sahara Star Mumbai. Formerly called Bombay, Mumbai is a densely populated city on India s west coast. A financial center, it s India s largest city. On the Mumbai bustling waterfront stands the iconic Gateway of India stone arch, built by the British in Offshore, nearby Elephanta Island holds ancient cave temples dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva.
