17 : Technical Support to the Authorities At the National level and at the request of authorities, the may intervene in case of emergency or radiological accident to determine, through field and laboratory measurements, the status of the radiological contamination of the environment. Furthermore, as a technical tool of the government of Morocco in the field of radiological safety, the Centre intervened at the request of authorities in two radiological warning situations, namely: - the accidental atmospheric release of Cesium-137 from a factory in Algeciras (Spain) in June 1998; - the failure of British nuclear submarine called Tireless in Gibraltar in In both cases, the sent his team specialize in environmental monitoring and impact assessment to conduct inspections of environmental components especially marine water, plants, fishes of affected areas. RMCC- June 13-15, 2011 Amman, Jordan 17

18 Very long distance Monitoring of the impact of Fukushima Accident (1) - Since the detection of iodine I-131, the measurement results obtained at CENM to this date confirms a widespread presence of traces of iodine 131 in the air, grass and milk in relation to radioactive discharges in air of the Fukushima accident - The measured activities for the (Cesium-134, Cesium-137, Tellurium ) are mostly below the detection limits. RMCC- June 13-15, 2011 Amman, Jordan 18
