Frequently Asked Questions Inline Phase Out Section 1: Why act? Q: Why do I have to upgrade my current BRITA system? A: The BRITA Pegler Filter taps that use the 06 Inline cartridge were introduced in 2006 and phased out from As part of our innovation and focus on delivering the best possible filtration performance for our customer, BRITA has created the P 1000 cartridge, which will replace the Inline 06 cartridges. The production of the Inline cartridges will be stopped and the product will no longer be available after 15 th January Q: For how long can I buy Inline cartridges for? A: Final orders through the BRITA eshop for Inline cartridges have to be placed before 15 th January The promotional offer shown on options below will be available until 30 th November There is limited stock availability so please order early to avoid potential disappointment. Q: What s the difference between my current Inline and the new P 1000 cartridge? A: Compared to the Inline cartridge, the P 1000 has 2 filtration steps (ion exchanger and activated carbon) which provide a better filter performance. Also, the P 1000 has a 20% higher and more consistent chlorine filtration, which will ensure even better tasting hot and cold drinks. The P 1000 lasts up to 1200L, depending on your water hardness and usage The P 1000 filter cartridge head also has 3 settings which can be adjusted to the hardness of your water giving you a more tailored filtration performance. Section 2: How to act? Q: What are my options? A: There are 3 alternatives to choose from. 1. Upgrade your current tap to a new BRITA 3-way (WD3030 & WD3020) filter tap which comes with a P 1000 cartridge included, with a limited promotional saving of 100 when using voucher code UPGRADE100 before 30 th November 2018 within the BRITA online shop. 2. Keep your current tap and stock up on Inline 06 cartridges. Use the promotional code STOCKUP10 before 30 th November 2018 to save an additional 10 off the existing value pack offer. 3. Purchase 4 x P 1000 filter cartridges and receive a free conversion kit to use with your existing BRITA filter tap (available from October 5 th 2018). Attention: Please be aware that the P 1000 cartridge does not work with low water pressure. The P1000 cartridge will operate under a water pressure range of bar. Q: Can I still use my Inline cartridges after January 2019? A: Yes, cartridges can still be used. If properly stored, all original BRITA cartridges can be kept for several years. Proper storage means temperatures between 1 C and 50 C, without exposure to direct sunlight or heat. The cartridge should also remain sealed in its original packaging. Q: Is it possible to use my current tap/ BRITA system with another cartridge? / Is there a substitute to the Inline cartridge? A: Yes, you can keep your current BRITA system if you purchase the Conversion Kit (see below). The Conversion Kit allows you to use a BRITA P 1000 cartridge (instead of the Inline cartridge) with your current tap. The Conversion Kit will be available from October 5 th Cont.

Section 3: Where and how to buy from now on? Q: Which cartridge do I have to buy after upgrading to a new tap or buying the conversion kit? A: As the Inline cartridge will be discontinued, you will need to switch to the P 1000 cartridge. All new BRITA filter taps use the P 1000 filter cartridge. With an old Filter tap, you will need to install a conversion kit to connect with the P 1000 cartridge and corresponding head. Q: How many Inline cartridges can I buy/store, when I decide for a stock up? A: Only 3 cartridge bundles can be purchased within the same transaction. However, you can reorder as many times as you wish as long as stock is available in the BRITA eshop. Q: Can I buy the conversion kit at my local store which has other BRITA products? / Where can I purchase the conversion kit? A: The Conversion Kit will be exclusively available in the BRITA eshop. Q: Do the offers count for other stores too or only on the BRITA website? A: Special offers are exclusively available for the BRITA eshop. Q: Is the BRITA P 1000 cartridge available as a bundle just like the Inline? A: Yes, you can choose between a single cartridge, a 2 pack or a 4 pack. Cont.

Section 4: How to install the Conversion Kit? Q: How do I switch/exchange the systems? A: Every system comes with an installation manual included. Q: Can I exchange the system by myself? A: Yes, as the conversion is a basic DIY job it can be completed by most people. The conversion itself takes about 20 minutes. A detailed instruction manual is included. Q: How can I tell what water pressure I have and what option is suitable for me? A: The conversion kit and new BRITA taps may not be suitable if you have low water pressure. Typically, modern houses or boiler systems operate under high pressure and use either a combination (combi) boiler or a pumped system that consists of a boiler and a hot water cylinder with expansion vessel on top which are normally found in airing cupboards. With both these systems you wouldn t normally have a cold water tank in the loft. The conversion kit or new BRITA tap would work with this water system. If you have a gravity fed system with a water tank in the loft and hot water tank in e.g. an airing cupboard, then most likely you have a low pressure system. With these systems, we cannot guarantee the conversion kit or new BRITA taps would work with your low water pressure. Q: What cartridges will the Conversion Kit be compatible with? A: The BRITA P 1000 and P 3000 cartridges. Please note: The conversion kit and new BRITA taps may not be suitable if you have low water pressure. See question 4 for more details. Q: What s the difference between a P 1000 and P 3000 cartridge? A: The P3000 cartridge is a longer lasting cartridge but gives the same type of water filtration as the P1000. The P1000 will last up to 1200 litres is W108 x D108 x H259mm excluding head and the P3000 cartridge will last up to 3,400 litres and is W104 x D104 x H410mm excluding head. The cartridge head is W50mm x D110mm x H60mm. Q: Can I get the free kit when I buy P 3000? A: The conversion kit is only available when purchased with 4 x P1000 cartridges. Q: Will the new head fit under my kitchen sink? A: Please see above.

Exclusion of liability BRITA shall not be held liable for any damage, including subsequent damage, arising from the incorrect use of the product. Important Notes Protect the P 1000 water filter cartridge from direct sunlight and mechanical damage. Do not assemble near sources of heat and open flames. A stop valve must be installed before the filter system intake hose. If the water pressure is greater than 8.6 bar, a pressure reducer must be installed in front of the filter system. The Conversion Kit P 1000 is only suitable for domestic use. Only water of drinking water quality may be used as intake water for the BRITA water filter system. The BRITA water filter system is only suitable for cold water use within the supply water temperature stated in the technical data. BRITA water filters are designed for use only with municipally treated tap water (note: this water is constantly controlled and according to legal regulations safe to drink) or with water from private supplies which has been tested as safe to drink. If you have a low pressure boiler, make sure you only connect the P 1000 to the cold water supply with the angle valve, and not to the low pressure boiler. Irrespective of the water used, you should use stainless steel utensils or kettles with stainless steel heating elements. This is of particular importance to people who are sensitive to nickel. Terms of warranty The Conversion Kit P 1000 Filtration System is subject to the statutory guarantee of 2 years. A guarantee claim may be asserted only if all instructions in this Quick Installation Guide are followed and observed. What has changed? Primarily the cartridge you ll use has changed. Compared to the Inline cartridge, the P 1000 has 2 filtration steps (ion exchanger and activated carbon) which provide a better filter performance. Also, the P 1000 has a 20% higher and more consistent chlorine filtration, which will ensure even better tasting hot and cold drinks. The P 1000 lasts up to 1200l, depending on your water hardness and usage The P 1000 filter cartridge head also has 3 settings which can be adjusted to the hardness of your water giving you more tailored filtration performance. Optimum use BRITA recommends that the filter system is not left unused for a long period. If the Conversion Kit P 1000 is not used for several days (2 3 days), we recommend that the filter system is flushed with the flushing volume X indicated in the table below. After stagnation periods of over 4 weeks, the filter should be flushed with flushing volume Y or else replaced. Please also note the maximum usage period of the filter cartridge is 12 months. P 1000 flushing volume X after 2-3 days stagnation P 1000 flushing volume Y after 4 weeks stagnation 2 Litres 20 Litres The Conversion Kit P 1000 must not be opened or dismantled during operation. The filter cartridge must not be opened. BRITA filtered water is designed for human consumption. Use it within 1 2 days.

Maintenance Regularly check the filter system for leaks. Regularly check the hoses for kinks. Kinked hoses must be replaced. Prior to exchanging the filter system, read the Technical Data and the Important Notes. Regularly clean the outside of the filter system with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use any abrasive chemicals, cleaning solutions or astringent cleaning agents. Replacing the filter cartridge If the maximum volume is reached or the cartridge has been used for 12 months from commissioning, the Time Counter will give an acoustic signal to remind you that the cartridge needs to be replaced. Read the Important Notes prior to exchange. After storage and transport below 0 C, the product must be stored in the open original packaging for at least 24 hours at the stated ambient temperatures (chapter 6) for operation. The filter cartridge can be pivoted by 90 in the wall mount for easy removal. When the locking handle is open, the water supply to the cartridge is interrupted and by-passing with direct water flow from the water inlet to the outlet is possible. Replacing the P 1000: 1. Open the locking handle. 2. Place a suitable container under the flush hose to catch the rinse water. Open the flush valve and release pressure from the system. Close the flush valve again. 3. Remove the exhausted filter cartridge from the filter head please be aware, the cartridge is firmly embedded so you can give it a firm pull without worrying about breaking it. 4. Insert the new filter cartridge. 5. Close the locking handle. 6. Reset the Time Counter. 7. Turn the tap handles on and rinse through until the filtered water runs clear and without any bubbles (at least 2 litres). Natural traces As with every natural product, the P 1000 parts can be subject to natural fluctuations. This can lead to a slight abrasion of small carbon particles into your filtered water, noticeable as black bits. These particles have no negative health effects. If ingested, they will not harm the human body. In case you observe carbon particles, BRITA recommends flushing out the P 1000 filter cartridge until the black bits disappear. Sensitive to potassium? The filtering process can cause a small rise in the levels of potassium. However, one litre of BRITA filtered water contains less potassium than an apple, for example. If you have kidney disease and/ or have to observe a special potassium diet, we recommend that you consult your doctor before using the water filter. In the event: filter first, and then boil If there are official instructions to boil tap water, the filter system must be decommissioned. When the requirement to boil water comes to an end, the filter cartridge must be replaced and the connections cleaned. Correct disposal of the Time Counter Every BRITA Time Counter has a useful life of approx. 5 years. At the end of the useful life of the Time Counter, remember that it must be disposed of according to the applicable regulations and statutory requirements. BRITA recycling: for our environment To work together in taking responsibility for our environment, you can return your P 1000 filter cartridges to a number of BRITA dealers. More about BRITA: For details on recycling, please see

Ultimate Hygiene For hygiene reasons, the filter material of the cartridge is subjected to a special treatment with silver. A small quantity of silver, which is harmless to health, may be released into the water. This is in compliance with the World Health Organisation (WHO) recommendations for drinking water. It is generally recommended to boil tap water for certain groups of people (e.g. people with weak immune systems, babies). This also applies to filtered water. Note for people with kidney disease or dialysis patients: The filtering process can cause a small rise in the levels of potassium. The water filtrate is classified in Category 2 according to DIN EN Over 50 years of experience is a guarantee of quality For over 50 years, BRITA has stood for constant innovation and the highest quality in the development of water filter solutions. To justify high quality requirements at BRITA there are stringent internal and external quality controls.
