1 XIII. E. Vice Chancellr f Facilities, Planning and Cnstructin Dr. Rueben Smith s Reprt: Buildings & Grunds (B&G) Update Custdial Crew has started deep cleaning at the Missin Center. Recycling Team Recycling team is severely under staffed, and we are currently seeking student wrkers t jin the recycling team. Waste management and diversin is a pririty, and ur effrts are nging. Campus Painting Parking lt line striping is being updated with designated striping labels thrughut the campus. N-Lt Emplyee Parking Lt Student Services Assciate Vice Chancellr s ffice painting is cmplete. Clud Circle parking areas and crsswalks have been repainted. Graffiti remval is nging. 2 Carpentry The carpentry shp cntinues t increase its respnsiveness and service t the cllege administratin, faculty and staff. Several utstanding request have reslved and crrective wrk is nging. Engineering With ver $450 millin in deferred maintenance issues, ur building engineers are mtivated t reslve r imprve n all heating and cling issues t imprve ur indr atmsphere. We are aware f several legacy issues that remain unreslved with a gal t imprve functinality where pssible. Building engineers are wrking very hard t reduce respnse time t service request that will ultimately reduce t ht and t cld service calls and wrk rders. Equipment Replacement Plumbing The plumbing shp is preparing fr the rainy seasn, and cntinues t perfrm backflw device maintenance thrughut the District, this task is 99% cmplete. The plumbing team wrked with PG&E t identify and repair small gas leak at Jhn Adams, which is 100% cmplete. 4 Lck Shp Frnt entrance drs at Health and Wellness building are being repaired and adjusted. Since February, the lcksmith has cmpleted ver 1,000 lck repairs and key request wrk rders and service calls. Grunds The grunds department cntinues t plant drught tlerant plants campus wide. Electricians Unfrtunately, the MUB Emergency Generatr is ut f cmmissin; ur electricians have installed a temprary replacement generatr in the event f pwer lss. We are currently wrking with a vendr t evaluate the existing generatr t prvide estimate fr repair r replacement. Emergency Repair Updates Cnlan Hall, Rm E206 asbests abatement is cmplete and new carpet has been installed. ARTS Extensin transfrmer replacement is being crdinated t ensure minimal disrupting t daily peratins. Crdinated wrk with the Department f Public Wrks (DPW) Building engineers wrked with steam fitters frm DPW t repair steam leaks n the steam supply mainline that supplies steam t Visual Arts and Arts Extensin. This was a lng standing legacy issue, which created several temperature cntrl issues in the afrementined buildings and wasted energy. This repair shuld reduce ur energy demand and imprve indr cmfrt. 5 Steam Repair Persnnel Update B&G is wrking n increasing staffing levels. We have recently hired a permanent lcksmith, and we have cmpleted interviews t recmmend tw statinary engineers fr hire. Thank yu fr yur supprt. Exterir Windw Cleaning Windw cleaning has started n Ocean Campus at Cnlan Hall. Windw cleaning has als started at the Evans Center. Events Cmmittee The events cmmittee cntinues its effrt t enfrce requirements fr the use f Cmmunity Cllege District Prperty and assets. Fee cllectin fr direct cst has drastically imprved.
