30 Testing for natural Pozzolan Powder (40 & 30 microne)

32 Testing on Natural Powder Pozzolan University of California at Berkley and King Abdullah University for Science and technology in cooperation with the Polzzolan product company. Super Silicom NP has a Slow Healing Quality: Due to the fact that Natural Pozzolan is different form one location to another and from one site to another in the same location Pozzolan Product Factory needed to do its own test to make sure of the quality of the material from its own mine. In early 2008 and in collaboration with King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST,) Pozzolan Product Factory decided to send 3 tons of natural pozzolan material from its mine to university of California at Berkley to study how the material behaves in well known laboratories. Results from tests at the Univeristy of California at Berkley were excellent and beyond expectations.

33 Results: 1. The pozzolanic activity index (at 28 days) was 103%, and after 56 days the compressive strength of mix containing 20% Super Silicom NP was about 14% higher than the one with only portland cement. However, the pozzolanic activity index was 73% after 7 days. 2. All mortar mixes were demolded after 24h and cured at room temperature, without any alkali activation. After only seven days of curing, for instance, strength result for the 20% replacement was 63 MPa. Thus it seems quite feasible to produce high-volume concretes with high amounts of Super Silicom NP replacement, but the time factor must be taken into account.
