4 TRACK RECORD OIL AND GAS HWH & Associates is supporting major energy companies in the development of oil and gas fields. Work sectors include asset condition surveys of existing plant and infrastructure, integrity detailed design targeting refurbishment initiatives of natural gaseous liquid processing plants in Nigeria, hydrological studies evaluating impacts of proposed water extraction/reinjection incentives, supply chain studies and local procurement support, liaising with state and international agencies to deliver refurbishment and new build initiatives aimed at upgrading oil and gas facilities to enhance production capacity. LAND USE PLANNING In the land use-planning sector we have been undertaking town and rural planning incentives. Subsequent to successful delivery of Warwick County Council s urban and rural planning scheme in the United Kingdom, HWH & Associates have been supporting major international companies in the Middle East with regulatory and incentive land use planning for brown and green field developments. POWER As a result of our involvement in an extensive survey of transmission lines in the Middle East, we are involved in diesel fueled power plant designs for rural communities, reinstatement and refurbishment of petrol filling stations and logistical analysis of substation deliveries. TRANSPORT As part of the development of Hong Kong s Chek Lap Kok Airport, the Company provided detailed design services during the construction of Terminal 1, which is presently the third largest passenger airport terminal building in the world. Other initiatives included provision of engineering services to London Underground for the upgrade of a number of key metro lines in the Greater London area. More recently, we undertook concept and feasibility studies for the reinstatement of wharf and port facilities at Bin Umr in Basra City, have been strategic infrastructure advisors to Network Rail, design consultant and project manager for the installation of Basra International Airport s airfield ground lighting system, as well as enhancing operations of large energy companies in Southern Iraq as key transport and planning advisors. SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEVELOPMENT Our environmental expertise place a large emphasis upon promoting balanced and sustainable development between the natural and built environments. We have undertaken water conservation programmes in the Marshes of Southern Iraq, prepared environmental impact assessments and habitat studies for international oil companies, developing policies for environmental control and risk management strategies management plans in the Middle East and UK. HEALTH AND EDUCATION Through our development of health and education improvement initiatives, the Company has continued its drive toward sustainable, capacity building practices. HWH & Associates is carrying out design of new classroom facilities for the Dominican Sisters primary school in Basra following our construction of new assembly halls and renovation of their convent school. Design and construction of a new Marsh Arab School in Southern Iraq. The school, which has been internationally recognised for its unique approach integrating traditional Marsh Arab Mudif style into the structure and use of local building materials and techniques. WATER AND WASTEWATER We are is successfully delivering a multitude of projects globally with a diversity ranging from design and installation of water features on 5 star golf resort developments in Portugal and Dubai, design and construction of city and rural water pipelines in London, renewal of high and low lift river water extraction pump stations to borehole water extraction and water treatment plants in rural communities. HWH & Associates recently completed the design and construction of wastewater networks and treatment plants, which will accommodate 250,000 people in Basra. The third river barrier condition survey and preparation of tender documentation, along with asset condition surveys and tender designs for the Shatt Al Basrah Barrage, a large sluice gate controlling farmland irrigation levels throughout central and southern Iraq. TRAINING AND CAPACITY BUILDING Exposure to fragile and conflict affected environments has led to the establishment of affiliations with internationally recognised training and educational institutions. HWH & Associates has carried out a number of successful training initiatives including the provision of town planning and landscape design workshops for Basra s Planning Department and GIS software proficiency training to Southern Iraq s Data Modeling Centre to advance our expertise in taught programmes which cover a broader range of learning improvement initiatives for the construction industry. Training programmes that are currently underway include NEBOSH certification for HSE professionals, pipeline inspection and ISO certified welding integrity assessment modules by practicing engineering professionals in Basra. HWH & Associates also offer a number of other training schemes targeting the construction sector. These include Project and Construction Management, Quality Assessment/Control on Site, Project Controls and Planning, Survey and Asset Integrity training.
