2 General Information Beaulieu Yarns Bulked Continuous Filament (BCF) yarn made of polyamide 6, solution dyed Programme holder IBU - Institut Bauen und Umwelt e.v. Panoramastr Berlin Owner of the Declaration Ideal Fibres & Fabrics WielsbekeNV Ooigemstraat 2b 8710 Wielsbeke Belgium Declaration number EPD-BIG CBD1-EN Declared product / Declared unit 1 kg BCF yarn made of polyamide 6 This Declaration is based on the Product Category Rules: Synthetic carpet yarns, (PCR tested and approved by the independent expert committee) Scope: Issue date Valid to The declaration applies to BCF yarn made of polyamide 6. It is produced in the manufacturing site of Berry Yarns Komen, Belgium, or in the manufacturing site of Ideal Fibres and Fabrics Comines, France. The owner of the declaration shall be liable for the underlying information and evidence; the IBU shall not be liable with respect to manufacturer information, life cycle assessment data and evidences. Verification The CEN Norm EN serves as the core PCR Independent verification of the declaration according to ISO internally x externally Prof. Dr.-Ing. Horst J. Bossenmayer (President of Institut Bauen und Umwelt e.v.) Dr. Eva Schmincke (Independent tester appointed by SVA) Dr. Burkhart Lehmann (Managing Director IBU) Product Product description The Bulk Continuous Filament (BCF) yarn is used for the production of carpets. The yarn consists of filaments that are made of solution dyed polyamide 6. The filaments are stretched, texturized and air entangled. The yarncount is 2600 to 2900 dtex for the use in object or private areas and 1000 dtex for the use in the automobile industrie. Application The PA 6 - yarn is used for the production of woven or tufted carpets that can be used in privat areas, object areas or in the automobile industrie. Technical Data Name Type of manufacture Value Bulk Continuous Filament (BCF) yarn, solution dyed Polyamide 6 99 or or Material Number of filaments Yarncount¹ Entanglement¹ Tenacity² Elongation at break² 1 Internal testmethod 2 Testmethod according to /ISO 2062/ dtex Knots/m cn/dtex % Base materials / Ancillary materials The primary material of the yarn is polyamide 6 (98.2%). Additives as pigments, spinfinish or UVstabilizers make a percentage of 1.8 %. Reference service life The indication of a reference service life is not relevant for the production stage (modules A1 to A3). 2

3 LCA: Calculation rules Declared Name Declared unit Value 1 kg System boundary Comparability Basically, a comparison or an evaluation of EPD data is only possible if all the data sets to be compared were created according to /EN 15804/ and the building context, respectively the product-specific characteristics of performance, are taken into account. Type of the EPD: Cradle-to-gate A1-A3 Production: Energy supply and production of the basic material, processing of auxiliary material, transport of the material to the manufacturing site, emissions, waste water treatment, packaging material. Polyamide 6 production waste is going to be recycled and leaves the system boundaries without further processing. LCA: Scenarios and additional technical information Scenarios are not necessary for the calculation of the production stage (modules A1 to A3). 3
