6 Grant Activity Grant Activity - Water Management - Administration/Coordination The Targeted Drainage Water Management Pilot Grant Project is designed to plan and implement drainage water management to protect and improve water quality. Administration and Coordination of this project will be provided by the GBERBA Coordinators and Bookkeeper. The Administrative Coordinator will administer the 2013 Pilot Grant. Administration will include all E-link, website and reporting documents as required by BWSR. The fiscal management will be completed by the GBERBA Bookkeeper and include all reporting documents as required by BWSR. 8 Grant Activity - Water Management - Land and Water Treatment GBERBA Technical Committee and Policy Board will approve the Conservation Drainage Pilot Grant CWF Policies at the September 7, 2012 and September 19, 2012 meetings. These funds are for a pilot project to plan and implement drainage water management practices as listed: ~Conservation Activity Plan (CAP) 130 Drainage Water Management Plan -Must be developed by a certified Technical Service Provider (TSP). ~Stucture for Water Control (NRCS 587) ~Drainage Water Management, Implementation/Operation (NRCS 554) -CAP130 is required. -Where Controlled Subsurface Drainage Structures installed -$7.58/acre per year for first 3 years of implementation/operation -Maximum 300 acres per cooperator. ~Denitrifying Bioreactor (NRCS 747) -Eligible on existing or new tile drainage systems. ~Conservation Activity Plan (CAP) 104 Nutrient Management Plan -Must be developed by a certified Technical Service Provider (TSP). ~Nutrient Management Plan (NRCS 590) -CAP 104 required. -Nutrient Management Plan implementation -$5.44/acre per year, first 3 years of implementation CAP 104 acres wo/manure -$10.78/acre per year, first 3 years of implementation CAP 104 acres w/manure -Maximum 300 acres per cooperator. ~Replacement of Existing Open Tile Inlet(s) -In accordance with NRCS 606 Subsurface Drain pactice. -Eligible practice perforated riser or dense pattern tile. 10 Grant Activity - Water Management - Project Development The Project Development Initiative will be used to faciliate two field days throughout the Greater Blue Earth River Watershed to promote Conservation Drainage. Tasks will include mailings, advertising, site prep and refreshments. Field days will be promoted to landowners, contractors and interested local citizens to the benefits of Conservation Drainage and eligilble practices. When participants can see actual practices on-the-ground the concept of conservation drainage is more easily understood and applicable to their daily farming practices. Meeting and tour focus was on Conservation Drainage and Drainage Water Management. Joe Magner gave a presentation and tour was conducted throughout Martin County - with SWCD staff as our guide. 11 Grant Activity - Water Management - Technical and Engineering Engineering assistance for this project could be completed by several entities and are as follows: South Central TSA located in Blue Earth County; Southwest Prairie TSA in Murray County and qualified District Staff and eligible Technical Service Providers will complete and certify final designs, and supervise the installation of drainage water management projects. GBERBA Technical Coordinator will be working with participating SWCDs to ensure qualified technical staff are being utilized throughout the project.
