2 INTRODUCTION Facility Summary (Formet) is located in St. Thomas, Ontario and opened in 1998 as a division of Magna International Inc. The plant size is measured at 1,050,000 square feet and in 2011 it employed 1087 full-time employees. The facility manufactures frames, frame components and structural components for cars, trucks, and sport utility vehicles. Formet s Environmental Management System (EMS) has been certified to the ISO standard since June Formet is actively engaged in seeking environmentally sustainable opportunities, such as: Reducing energy usage (electricity, natural gas) through various projects such as installing energy efficient lighting and heating equipment, motion sensors for lighting, air curtains, and minimizing compressed air losses. Reducing the pollution loading to the sanitary sewer system by treating wastewater and reducing the use of substances such as phosphorus in floor cleaners. Minimizing depletion of natural resources such as minimizing oil losses from the stamping processes and reducing the use of stamping fluids. Minimizing waste by improving recycling and reducing solid waste disposal. Magna International Inc. Magna International Inc. The use of Chromium and Manganese is an integral part of the products that we manufacturer, and it is not technically or economically feasible to reduce. We will continue to use these substances in strict accordance with all applicable environmental regulations. In accordance with the Magna Corporate Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Policy ( and ISO Environmental Policy, we are committed to an operating philosophy based on fairness and concern for employees, customers and the communities in which we operate. Magna s objective as expressed in the HSE Policy is to be an industry leader in health, safety and environmental practices in all of our operations with the intention, through technological innovation and process efficiencies, to minimize the impact of our operations on the environment and to provide safe and healthful working conditions. In keeping with Magna s decentralized organizational structure, facilities are responsible for setting site specific objectives and targets under their ISO system and to meet the objectives within the Magna HSE Policy to: improve the efficient use of natural resources, including energy; minimize waste streams and emissions; and implement effective recycling programs in our manufacturing operations, through the use of locally set continuous improvement targets. With reference to the Ontario Toxics Reduction Act, the reduction objectives are outlined in Section 4 of this Plan for the reportable substances (Chromium and Manganese) at Formet Industries. 3.0 SUBSTANCES REQUIRING PLANS The following substances require plans, Chromium and Manganese, based on 2011 Toxics Reduction Act accounting information. These substances are used in raw material metals manufactured into automotive components.

7 4.0 OBJECTIVES OF THE PLAN & ANY TARGETS Magna International Inc. prides itself on technical innovation in order to produce high quality automotive components in an environmental responsible manner. This plan documents the options available to to optimize the use of Chromium and Manganese at the facility. At this time, there are no specific targets for reduction, however, as is our standard practice, we will continue to meet regularly with our staff and look for opportunities to reduce our use of Chromium and Manganese. 5.0 OPTIONS TO BE IMPLEMENTED (OR STATEMENT THAT NONE ARE TO BE IMPLEMENTED) commitment to continuous improvement has resulted in an extraordinary lean and efficient manufacturing facility. The facility s continuous improvement measures, coupled with the acknowledgment that the customer provides the specifications for the raw materials processed at the site mean that there are no additional options for the facility to implement. 6.0 CONTENTS OF THIS PLAN SUMMARY REFLECTS THE PLAN This Plan Summary accurately reflects the Toxic Substance Reduction Plans dated November 2, 2012, prepared for the substances listed in Section 1.0 of this Summary.
