Microclimate Monitoring System

How breathable is the air in your neighbourhood? Air Quality guidelines by the World Health Organisation (WHO) estimate that air pollution-related deaths can be reduced by about 15% by lowering the concentration of particulate matter (PM10) from 70 to 20 micrograms per cubic metre (μg/m). A comprehensive air quality monitoring system measures and evaluates the concentration levels of air pollutants in a specific region over a period of time. As a result, microclimate monitoring enables the government and industries to inform, engage and be connected with the community. Traditional microclimate monitoring systems require large infrastructure, huge investments and complex operations. It is evident that a cost-effective and sustainable monitoring system is essential to efficiently measure and to maintain optimal air quality, especially in countries experiencing rapid urbanization. Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions Pvt. Ltd. in partnership with Intel has engineered Climo, a smart air monitoring solution to visualise, analyse air quality with real-time tracking of ambient air pollutants.

Bosch Climo Transformation is in the air! Bosch Climo is technologically advanced and easy to deploy. Climo uses affordable and high sensitivity wireless sensors to connect over Wi-Fi, GSM and EDGE networks enabling microclimatic data collection. Climo is powered with state-of-the-art IoT Platform technology, enabled with cloud-based analytics, data management and visualisation software. This facilitates energy-efficiency, scalability and sustainability for real-world applications.

The Climo Advantage Features Microclimatic data measurements for key air pollutants PM, CO, NO, NO2, SO2 and O3 and environmental parameters Temperature, Relative Humidity (RH), Light, Sound and Pressure Compact design, built to withstand rugged weather conditions Remote monitoring enabled with both Wired and Wireless interface 400 MHz Intel Quark processor enabled with multi-layer security Simplified device management & maintenance with OTA Benefits Cutting-edge data collection techniques that guarantee real-time, more granular data Forecasts time and location-based trend patterns on key environmental factors End-to-end security features for connecting devices help detect threats and safeguard scalability on both the hardware and software Flexible functions and features creation for use cases in Air Quality across different device platforms including computers, tablets and smartphones Optimised for speedy deployment, zero additional infrastructure investment and measures fraction of the size of traditional air quality monitoring system Value Proposition Over the cloud data connectivity and management Scalability to diverse, real-world applications

Applications / Use Cases* Industrial Applications Measurements on air quality, sound and noise, lighting, humidity and temperature Real-time sense and view of multiple parameters First level indications on thresholds for health and safety Integration possibility with existing ERP systems Campus & Community Air Quality Monitoring Share data and recommendations on outdoor fitness conditions Monitoring AQ for areas including residential, commercial, educational, health and fitness, recreational campuses Construction Environment Monitoring Indicative microclimate monitoring across different construction sites Microclimatic data facilitates problem-child identification Smart Cities Information & prediction of trends on ambient air quality levels (e.g.: Air Quality Index) Education and Information for AQ awareness Support existing traditional AQ monitoring networks City heat-maps and preliminary characterisation for cities (*)Climo is an indicative class of measurement system for Air Quality. Its primary purpose will be general trend monitoring and generic information provisioning. It will not suit for verifying statutory or compliance requirements.
