1 Introduction Environment and Safety Performance Keeping a tradition of environmental disclosure the following are performance charts for our corporatewide environmental and safety data. In most instances, data is presented as absolute data (charts with blue bars) and normalized against sales for that year (charts with green bars). Metric Sales (used for normalization purposes) Energy: Total Energy Consumption, Total Electricity Purchased Greenhouse Gas (GHG): Total GHG, by scope 1 and scope 2 Process Air Emissions: Nitrogen Oxides (NOx), Sulfur Oxides (SOx), Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) Water: Total Water Consumption, Total Water Withdrawal, Chemical Oxygen Demand ( COD), Biologic Oxygen Demand (BOD) Waste: Total Waste, Total Hazardous Waste, Total Waste Disposed Safety: Recordable Incident Rate, Lost Time Rate Absolute Data (Blue Charts) Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes Normalized by Sales (Green Charts) n/a Total Energy Consumption only Total GHG only None Total Water Consumption only Total Waste only n/a Specified, and environment and safety data have been assured by ERM Certification and Verification Services (ERM CVS). Where noted: minor changes have been made to previously stated data from. The assurance letter can be found at the end of this document. Specified environment dataa have been assured by ERM. Performance data includes the period prior to AbbVie s separation from Abbott. Our approach to data from this period is given below. Coverage AbbVie takes an operations approach for all of the performance data in this document, coverage differs as follows: (1) Coverage for water, waste and process air emissions data are collected directly from our 15 manufacturing and R& D facilities in a globally deployed software solution on a quarterly basis. These data include % of metrics for manufacturing and R&D, which account for the majority (>75%) of our operations. (2) Coverage for energy and greenhouse gas emissions data represents % of our operations. This data is collected utilizing the same process described for waste, water and processs air emissions; however, data are also collected and reported for fuel consumption from our global commercial sales fleet, as well as energy consumption from our commercial affiliate offices and warehouses around the world. (3) Coverage for our Safety data represents % of all AbbVie operations. Note on Disaggregation of Data and Collection AbbVie was separated from Abbott on January 1,. In the majority of cases,, the data previously entered for each facility that is now part of AbbVie was taken as a whole and included. In locations, where there was both an Abbott and AbbVie presence, AbbVie performance was separated from Abbott performance. Note on Sales Data AbbVie was separated from Abbott on January 1,. Abbott sales dataa was first broken out between its proprietary medicines and established pharmaceuticals divisions inn 2010, all proprietary pharmaceuticals sales were assumed to be AbbVie sales for. 9 Water Total Water Consumption [million cubic meters] increase is due to a change in water source for fire protection system at a site and leaks in the system. All leaks have since been fixed Water Consumption Normalized to Sales [m³ ³/MUSD] ] absolute and normalized data assured by ERM CVS. data assured by ERM. 2. See note on disaggregation of data page Total water consumption is defined as total water used excluding noncontact cooling water that is drawn from and returned to the same source, with equal quality. AbbVie, Environment and Safety Performance 9

10 Total Water Withdrawal [million cubic meters] The increase in is due to the mild weather which resulted inn an increase in the amount noncontact cooling water needed for process cooling. 1., and absolute data assured by ERM CVS. data assured by ERM. 2. See note on disaggregation of data page Total water withdrawal includes all water used, including noncontact cooling water that is drawn from and returned to the same source, with equal quality. 15 Independent Assurance Statement to AbbVie ERM Certification and Verification Services (ERM CVS) was engaged by AbbVie Inc. ( AbbVie ) to provide limited assurance in relation to specified environmental and safety data as set out below. Engagement summary Scope of our assurance engagement Whether the corporate (absolute) data for the following selected indicators in the AbbVie Environment and Safety Performance PDF are fairly presented, in all material respects, with the reporting criteria: Environmental data Scope 1 GHG emissions (metric tons CO 2e) Scope 2 GHG emissions (metric tons CO 2e) Total energy consumption (MWh) Total electricity purchased (MWh) Total water withdrawal (million m 3 ) Total water consumption (million m 3 ) Total waste generated: Total and total hazardous (metric tons) Total waste disposed (metric tons) Emissions to air: NOx, SOx, VOC (metric tons) Emissions to water: COD (metric tons), BOD (mg/l) Environmental Data, normalized to sales Total GHG emissions Total energy Total water consumption Total waste Safety data Lost Time Incident Rate (LTIR) Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) Reporting criteria The WBCSD/WRI GHG Protocol (4) for the Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions. AbbVie s internal reporting criteria and definitions for the other indicators. Assurance standard Assurance level Respective responsibilities ERM CVS assurance methodology, based on the International Standard on Assurance Engagements ISAE 3000 (Revised). Limited assurance. AbbVie is responsible for preparing the data and for its correct presentation in the Report to third parties, including disclosure of the reporting criteria and boundary. ERM CVS s responsibility is to provide conclusions on the agreed scope based on the assurance activities performed and exercising our professional judgement. Our conclusions Based on our activities, nothing has come to our attention to indicate that the corporate data for the selected indicators, as listed above, are not fairly presented, in all material respects, with the reporting criteria. Our assurance activities Our objective was to assess whether the selected data are reported in accordance with the principles of completeness, comparability (across the organisation) and accuracy (including calculations, use of appropriate conversion factors and consolidation). We planned and performed our work to obtain all the information and explanations that we believe were necessary to provide a basis for our assurance conclusions. 16 A multi-disciplinary team of EHS and assurance specialists performed the following activities: Interviews with relevant staff to understand and evaluate the data management systems and processes (including IT systems and internal review processes) used for collecting and reporting the selected data; A review of the internal indicator definitions and conversion factors; A review of emission factors used for the data in AbbVie s reporting software; Visits to two sites (Sligo, Ireland and North Chicago, Illinois (US) to review local reporting processes and consistency of reported annual data with selected underlying source data for each indicator. We interviewed relevant staff, reviewed site data capture and reporting methods, checked calculations and assessed the local internal quality and assurance processes. An analytical review of the year end data submitted by all sites included in the consolidated data set for each of the selected indicators, including investigation of trend anomalies from. Year-end assurance activities at corporate level including the results of internal review procedures and the accuracy of the consolidation of the data for the selected indicators from the site data. The limitations of our engagement The reliability of the assured data is subject to inherent uncertainties, given the available methods for determining, calculating or estimating the underlying information. It is important to understand our assurance conclusions in this context.
