Proposition 39 is the California Clean Energy Jobs Act, passed and enacted for fiscal year Funded by changes to the corporate tax code, funds are allocated to K-12 and Community College school districts, based on ADA and the districts economic status, for energy efficiency projects. This program is administered by the California Energy Commission (CEC). Pittsburg Unified School District will receive close to $2.4 million dollars over five years for energy efficiency projects.

To date, with Prop 39 funding, the following projects have been completed: Retrofit of portable classroom lighting at Highlands, Stoneman and Willow Cove Elementary Schools. New energy-efficient freezer and cooler for the Child Nutrition Program at the Site Support Services Center. Replace all HVAC units in school buildings and permanent classrooms with high-efficient units.

The following projects are in progress: Replacing the exterior lighting to highefficiency LED lighting at Pittsburg High School, Stoneman, Highlands, and Willow Cove Elementary Schools. This includes parking lot lights and lights around the school properties. Projects in planning stages for Prop 39 funding: Willow Cove Elementary HVAC systems and interior classroom lighting from indirect florescent to LED direct lighting.

On the former location of the Maintenance and Operations building, across from where Central Jr. High School once stood, a new center was built for all support services. The new Site Support Services Center houses the Maintenance, Operations, Transportation, Facilities, Child Nutrition Services, and IT departments, all in one building

The new building is over 20,000 square feet and is adjacent to the Maintenance warehouse. The eastern end of the building has the offices for all six departments. The center section of the building is the bus barn, our vehicle repair shop, while the last third of the building houses the Child Nutrition Services warehouse, freezer and cooler.
