Advanced Business & Technologies Hydrogen Transporting the future May 2016 l advanced Business & Technologies

1. Hydrogen global energy context 2

Global climate change crisis Must reduce emissions of CO 2 and CH 4 Regulation & Financing Europe Japan U.S. China -80% GHG emissions by % by % by % Non-fossil by

(Gt CO 2 e per year) Europe s emissions challenge Aggressive Energy & Climate policies Road transport and energy emissions are heavily impacted To meet targets we need to abate emissions from transport by 95% by 2050 (1) Large efficiency improvements are already included in the baseline based on the IEA. World Energy Outlook 2009, especially for industry. (2) Abatement estimates within sector based on Global GHG Cost Curve. (3) CCS applied to 50% of large industry (cement, chemistry, iron and steel, petroleum and gas, not applied to other industries). Source: 4

2. Why Hydrogen works 5

Hydrogen, many existing applications Heat Treatment Glass H2 Ultra pure <1ppb Chemicals & Petroleum refining Rockets Fuel cell vehicle 6

50 years of global investment in Hydrogen Production Distribution > 14 bn m 3 /yr > 1,850 km H 2 pipeline > 46 large H 2 /CO plants > 2 bn sales year 2015 Applications 7 7

Hydrogen from well to wheel H 2 stations for Hydrogen Electric Vehicles Natural Gas / Biogas Reformer Renewable energies Electrolyser 8

Everything we do leads to CO 2 - free H 2 mobility 50% of H 2 energy carbon-free by 2020 A commitment to meet both environmental requirements and economic constraints Achieving Blue H 2 1. Biogas reforming 2. Water electrolysis (renewable, nuclear) 3. Natural gas reforming + CCS 4. Biomass gasification 9

Air Liquide Blue hydrogen certificates Hydrogen from chloralkali electrolysis with renewable electricity in Zaventem (BE) certified by Vincotte Hydrogen from biomethane in Dormagen (DE) certified by TÜV Hydrogen from SMR + CCS in Port-Jérôme (FR) to be certified by E&Y

Hydrogen out performs all alternatives 11 11

Beyond mobility, H 2 is the energy vector of the future H 2 can be produced from any regionally prevalent primary energy source Enhances energy system flexibility, through outstanding Energy Storage capabilites H 2 is critical to increase the share of renewable energies in the Energy mix Reference: IEA Technology roadmap, Hydrogen & Fuel cells,

HyBalance - Project characteristics Power to Hydrogen project in Hobro 15M investment Operations: 5 permanent jobs Construction works 1 year: 15+ direct & 25+ indirect jobs European Funding: FCHJU Danish Funding: ForskEL Benefits for Denmark: Serve Renewables deployment Initiation of Grid balancing services Close collaboration with local entities and universities NEAS, Cemtec & Energinet.dk Significant Power to H2 project and development of a state of the art clean H2 production facility to service Denmark H2 mobility growth Timeline 14 CONSTRUCTION & TESTING HyBalance-DK ForskEL HyBalance FCHJU COMMERCIAL OPERATIONS (15 years) Dec Sept. 2020

Blue hydrogen for refineries? Current RED and FQD legislations give ambitious targets for biofuel blending & CO2 footprint reductions of current fuels Supply of Blue H2 via existing supply scheme guarantees customer a stable supply while reducing carbon footprint without technical challenges Units in 1000 th2/y OTF business Self production (refiner) Blue H2 OTF (potential) 1 5 H2 demand in WE refineries By product Additional (current) Additional (new)

Political and economic initiatives are accelerating transition Gov. Yoichi Masuzoe demotorization 2020 Olympics Clear signs of support around the globe Japan: M. Abe s commitment towards a H 2 Society Korea: New Green Car roadmap (Dec. 2015) Europe: EU-funded programs (FCH JU, TEN-T) ZEV Allianz : US (California, NE), Germany, Netherlands I have no doubt that Japan comes to the Front runner of hydrogen energy race. I commit to promote hydrogen innovation much harder. - Prime Minister Abe (April 2015) But need to further incentivize Demand and Offer to accelerate the transition Customers Car OEMs Infrastructure developers And for Premium Hydrogen to find its market, we need: GoO scheme allowing to track Low CO2 AND RE origin. Have a competitive H2 vs other energies to fulfill the requirement of regulation. Have a minimum value needed to justify large investment. Some clear public support 16
