Scientists have clearly described the consequences of air pollution from the globally growing production of energy, food and products, as well as the associated transport. Global warming, increased premature deaths and health expenditures, as well as deterioration of nature and environment are important impacts from the air pollution. However, we know it is possible to change direction towards a green economy - and I think it is

3 time to do it. Smart regulation, innovative transportation, green shipping, technical innovation, sustainable planning are just a few means that benefit both the environment and the economy. Since the 1970 s Denmark has been in the forefront of combating air pollution and greenhouse gasses, and our goal is to phase out all fossil fuels before 050. Trough public and private cooperation we have come a long way in environmentally responsible air quality management and technologies. Today already 39% of Danish electricity is produced by wind turbine achieved by cutting edge expertise and intense research for clean tech solutions. Denmark s air quality management incorporates experience from a large number of other countries, and it is the foundation for innovative companies that produce clean air products and solutions. Denmark has successfully reduced atmospheric pollution in most areas to less than one fifth of the levels in the 1970 s. 7 1 THE PROMISE OF CLEAN AIR LESNI provides sophisticated air purification systems that use a variation of technologies to remove toxic gases, solvents, dust and aggressive agents from the air. If you visit a waste air treatment plant from LESNI, there is a cloud of sensors and automation that contributes to the optimum cleaning process. The air departing from LESNI s treatment plants meets stringent legislations of local authorities. LESNI designs, supplies and installs customer specified plants and systems for demanding industrial sectors worldwide. HEADQUATER AND R&D FOR DINEX Dinex develops and manufactures advanced emission technologies for complete exhaust systems for trucks, constructions and agricultural vehicles for both OEM and AEM customers. At the location in Denmark, you find the headquarter of the Dinex Group, which employs 1350 people together with the automatised central warehouse for Europe and the Research and Development Center. 8 1 INTELLIGENT USE OF BIOMASS The Inbicon technology developed by DONG Energy converts different types of agricultural residues into high-value outputs, such as nd generation bioethanol. Advanced bioethanol delivers strong value for society, as it is highly compatible with today s infrastructure, while stimulating agricultural development, lowering CO emissions and reducing the world s dependence on fossil fuels. The Inbicon Biomass Refinery is a fully automated industrial scale demo plant producing 1180 litre/hour bioethanol and other green power products in the process. COOL ROOFS THAT BREAK DOWN NOX As a visitor at Iso Paint Nordic, Denmark s largest manufacturer of functional and climate-friendly roof coatings, you will get a tour at Iso Paint Nordic s factory and get a great insight into how Iso Paint Nordic developes, produces and sells its unique products. In Iso Paint Nordic s showroom various green solutions using various installations in a good and instructive way, will be demonstrated to show the effect of the products. 9 1 GEA SPRAY DRYING ABSORPTION The GEA Niro Spray Drying Absorption (SDA) process is a technology for acid-gas absorption based on spray drying. It is an efficient and versatile technology for flue gas desulphurization/cleaning that has been used for more than 30 years. The process is in operation at more than 50 power plants, waste incinerators, glass plants and sinter plants worldwide. At GEA Process Engineering s company location, the assembly of one of the key components, the rotary atomizer, and test facilities can be witnessed. Full scale plants can be visited in Denmark or neighboring countries. AIR CLEANING FOR PIG PRODUCTION Farm AirClean is a system for air cleaning in pig production. The system is based solely on biological air cleaning principles. These principles are effective with regards to reducing odour, ammonia and dust. Biological air cleaning is a process where the livestock house air is drawn through two or three step filters sprinkled with water, which removes ammonia, dust and odours from the outlet air. No chemicals are used in this process. The system is characterised by minimum maintenance, automatic operation and low energy consumption. 1 GEA Process Engineering SKOV A/S

10 1 GAMST CONTRACT APPLIKATOR The visit is an on-site visit to Gamst farm and contract applicator. The visit starts with a presentation of acidification technology and the influence of ammonia emissions on particle air pollution. After the presentation, a visit to the custom applicator site follows. Gamst has a large machinery park with several slurry tankers for its own farms and for services to the local area. During the visit, machinery hardware and the acidification technology will be inspected, and you can get a demonstration either on-site or in the field depending on season. CUTTING EDGE HEAT RECOVERY Learn how to harness energy from hot flue gas, process air or steam with an exodraft heat recovery unit. Free hot process water, year in and year out, as well as major reductions in fuel costs and CO emissions. The energy loss in excess flue gas or process heat is typically 10 to 15 %, of which approximately 80 % can be recovered with exodraft heat recovery.
