4 SYMBIO Innovation and Progress High Tech solution for recycling of food waste The development of a modular & mobile facility for a flexible and efficient collection of organic residues from a variety of sources. Including a complete cleaning and disinfection of collection bins Concept, dimensioning and overall design of the entire vehicle complies with all aspects of road traffic regulations Biogas as fuel for the truck with Dual Engine developed by INFINITE 7 SYMBIO The design of this mobile collection device comprises: Take-up and emptying of collection bins for catering / food waste Take-up and emptying of used oil and grease of vegetable origin Cleaning and disinfection of containers and bins according to the hygiene requirements of the Austrian Animal By-Products Regulation Delivery and positioning of the cleaned containers at the customers site Collection of liquid waste and residues by vacuum system 8 4

5 SYMBIO The mobile collection device is suited for the following waste types: catering / food waste biowaste used cooking oil and fat former food stuff, unpacked and packed rendered fat 9 SYMBIO Special-Purpose Vehicle The Composition of the Components A truck designed for collection and transport of vegetable and animal food waste. Includes automatic cleaning of 120 / 240 litre containers. Emptying of containers by negative pressure, mechanical emptying or vacuum. The transport tank is permanently open without pressure. Negative pressure tank without mechanical covers but tube valves. Pipes outlets do not show towards the handling parts. 10 5

9 Collection / Reception This is done (i) by special trucks with a container exchange system or (ii) the food waste is delivered by partner companies 17 Tipping / Reception The bins are unloaded and put on the emptying facility where the food waste is emptied in a container. 18 9

10 Production / Pre-Treatment The food waste is mixed by a screw before being crushed in a mill and sent to a grease separator. 19 Collection Bins Cleaning & Disinfection After emptying the bins are put on the wash tunnel. After washing and disinfection the bins a returned to the ramp

11 Cleaning & Disinfection 21 Milling / separation of solids and impurities Pulper: Here the biomass is milled, and watered The sludge-like food waste is further transported to the intermediate storage tank. The separated solids are composted. Impurities are disposed

13 Fermenter I The 2 fermenters, each with 150 m³, are equipped with a heated winchstirring device. It is a mesophilic fermentation at ca. 38 C. mesophilic means a temperature range below 47 C 25 Fermenter II In the 2 nd concrete fermenter mesophilic digestion is continued. Volume: 1500 m³ 26 13

14 Post Fermenter III Here post fermentation with gas capture takes place. 27 Intermediate Storage of Digestate The intermediate gas tight storage tank guarantees an optimised use of the residual gas potential. Retention time in the closed storage tank: = 90 days 28 14

16 PRODUCTION of Biogas & Green Electricity The methane concentration in the biogas is ca. 60 %. It is stored in a Gas storage sack and used as fuel of the gas power stations to produce electricity and heat. 31 Trocknungsanlage - Drying of hey bales with off-heat from the CHP of the power station 32 16

18 Our resumé + Composting Material with broad composition and a high proportion of slowly degrading carbon sources: source separated biowaste from households garden and park waste, bush an tree cuttings, prunings, quality certified sewage sludge + Anaerobic Digestion Clean, easily degradable more sludge-like and rich in energy materials: food and catering waste, residues from the food processing industry, market waste, slaughter house waste, also slurry & energy crops (e.g. maize or grass silage if produced in an ecologically sound way) + Material Recycling All outputs are used on SOIL thus, only pure input materials of high natural quality; no dilution or mixing with low quality waste materials. 35 The Cycle of Nature Consumer We close the loop: ecologic efficient sustainable Food Industry, Shops Biowaste Green Elictricity Harvest Fermentation Fertilisation 36 18
