2 The Efficiency Maine Trust Acts like a statewide utility to deliver Maine s lowest cost energy resource: Energy Efficiency Independent, not-for-profit, quasi-state agency stakeholder Board of Trustees regulated by the PUC Administering energy programs since 2010 To increase the use of energy efficient equipment and systems 2

12 Business Incentive Program Menu of incentives up to $50,000 on qualified measures including: Lighting HVAC equipment Refrigeration Controls (for lighting, HVAC) Custom incentives for non-prescriptive projects that result in a yearly energy savings of 70,000 kwh or more Technical Assistance available 12

13 Multi-Family Energy Program Program Design: For buildings with 5-20 units Any project that saves at least 20% total energy (any fuel, any income) No obligation Benchmarking Rebates for approved Energy Reduction Plan Rebates of 50% of the upgrade cost up to $1,400/unit Please encourage local property managers to participate! 13

14 Large Customer Program Maine businesses, institutions and governments apply in competitive solicitations for funding Eligibility: large electrical energy efficiency and distributed generation projects that deliver: high benefit : cost ratio, and high savings of electricity or greenhouse gases Funding ranges from $100,000 to $750,000 per facility, up to 50% of total project costs Targets largest energy consumers (generally over 400 kw) Rolling review process Continues until July 2014 or until funds exhausted 14

17 Home Energy Savings Program More than 12,000 homes in Maine have received incentives and financing for energy upgrades and services since 2010! New Incentives announced! Up to $1,500 per building toward a variety of best-in-class heating and insulation improvements! Low Interest, Long-Term Project Financing still available! 526 PACE and PowerSaver loans for home projects. $6.7 Million total improvements financed since New Unsecured Energy Loan to be available in November! 17

Two paths to access rebates: Path 1 (Custom) Modeled tiers Tier 1 : 20% Tier 2 : 40% Allows for inclusion and credit for broader variety of improvements in a single project. Path 2 (Menu) Prescriptive items Air sealing with Assessment Best In Class Heating Systems Insulation to new standards (e.g. R49 attic) 23

Exterior walls Dense pack all accessible exterior walls or 2 exterior foam. Basement walls Air seal penetrations, chases, sills. Perimeter to R15 to 2 ft below grade 26 2x contribution minimum from homeowner on insulation measures.

Wood Stoves ($250 total rebate) EPA approved, make-up air ducted into unit; listed on the Oregon Department of Energy list of qualifying Premium Efficiency Wood Stoves. 28
