4 Proposed Ordinary Sand Mining Project at Gata.- 8Ka/195, Village- Ratauli, (II) Activity: 1. Construction, operation or decommissioning of the Project involving actions, which will cause physical changes in the locality (topography, land use, changes in water bodies, etc.) S.. Information/Checklist 1.1 Permanent or temporary change in land use, land cover or topography including increase in intensity of land use (with respect to local land use plan) 1.2 Clearance of existing land, vegetation and buildings? / Details thereof (with approximate quantities /rates, wherever possible) with source of information data This is Government land. Due to mining activities there will be slight changes in topographical features because proposed mining confined to river bed only no other area disturbed. Proposed mine is a part of river bed with sand reaches. Sand mining will be done up to a depth of 2.40m. The activity will take place on the river bed. The excavated sand from mine lease area will be naturally replenished with the flow of water Mining will be restricted to the allotted area only keeping the shores unaffected, thus does not involve any change in existing topography or land use. The proposed plan involves extraction of Ordinary Sand from the river bed only and does not require any clearance of existing land, vegetation and building. 1.3 Creation of new land uses? The project does not involve any creation of new land use. 1.4 Pre-construction t Applicable investigations e.g. bore houses, soil testing? 1.5 Construction works? Construction of permanent nature is required. 1.6 Demolition works? t Applicable 1.7 Temporary sites used for construction works or housing of construction workers? Mining is confined in dry season in day time only, and temporary laborers from local area will be hired, thus no housing of construction workers is required. 1.8 Above ground buildings, civil work is required in the mine Form-1/ 4

5 Proposed Ordinary Sand Mining Project at Gata.- 8Ka/195, Village- Ratauli, structures or earthworks including linear structures, cut and fill or excavations 1.9 Underground works including mining or tunneling? lease area. Only Opencast Ordinary Sand mining will be done Reclamation works? reclamation measures will be adopted at site except leveling of river bed after achieving UPL of 2.40m from river bed level. River itself replenishes with sediment carried during monsoon season Dredging? dredging will be done for Ordinary Sand mining Offshore structures? t Applicable 1.13 Production and manufacturing processes? 1.14 Facilities for storage of goods or materials? 1.15 Facilities for treatment or disposal of solid waste or liquid effluents? 1.16 Facilities for long term housing of operational workers? 1.17 New road, rail or sea traffic during construction or operation? 1.18 New road, rail, air waterborne or other transport infrastructure including new or altered routes and stations, ports, airports etc? The mining operation will be carried out by open excavation method and about 1,44,000 m 3 /annum of Ordinary Sand will be excavated. Mined material (Ordinary Sand) will be loaded and transported directly through the trucks or trolleys; hence no temporary or permanent storage will be required. There would be no construction laborers inhabit at site thus there will be very less or no generation of solid waste is anticipated. Mining activities is confined to day time only, thus do not involve long term housing of operational workers. new road, rail will be constructed. During operation phase there will be slight increase in present traffic. t Applicable Form-1/ 5

There are no transmission lines or pipeline passing through the project area. Ordinary Sand mining will be restricted to river bed only unaffecting the shores; hence no change to the hydrology of watercourse or aquifers is anticipated. The water requirement for the operational workers is met by private tankers from nearby dugwell/borewell. It is estimated that approx. 10 local labors are hired from nearby villages; total man power will be 34. Total water requirement will be 7.80 KLD. Proposed mining will be done scientifically, and thus will help to maintain the water course of the river. Collection of minor mineral will be done from the river bed only in order to maintain the natural course and flow of water during rainy season also to protect the nearby villages adjoining to banks from flooding and erosion. Thus these changes will be positive. Minerals River Sand will be transported in Tractors & trucks by road. Workers will come from nearby villages on their convenience. During operational phase and excavated material is transported directly to the local markets. Existing road will be used for transportation. Form-1/ 6

7 Proposed Ordinary Sand Mining Project at Gata.- 8Ka/195, Village- Ratauli, 1.26 Long-term dismantling or decommissioning or restoration works? 1.27 Ongoing activity during decommissioning which could have an impact on the environment? 1.28 Influx of people to an area in either temporarily or permanently? t Applicable River itself carried huge amount of sediment during every monsoon season so there is no reclamation measures proposed at mine site. t Applicable The afforestation will be carried out along the Haulage roads planted with local plant species. It will check riparian erosion and creates aesthetic environment of surrounding area. It is estimated that approx 10 laborers will be employed locally from nearby areas; total man power will be 34. The influx of the people will be temporary and positive (in terms of employment) Introduction of alien species? 1.30 Loss of native species or genetic diversity? t Applicable t Applicable 1.31 Any other actions? t Applicable Form-1/ 7

Thus the impact will be positive in term of protection by natural hazards causing environmental damage. Form-1/ 14

15 Proposed Ordinary Sand Mining Project at Gata.- 8Ka/195, Village- Ratauli, 9. Factors which should be considered (such as consequential development) which could lead to environmental effects or the potential for cumulative impacts with other existing or planned activities in the locality. S.. Information/Checklist / Details thereof (with approximate quantities/rates, wherever possible) with source of information data 9.1 Lead to development of supporting facilities, ancillary development or development stimulated by the project which could have impact on the environment e.g.: Supporting infrastructure (roads, power supply, waste or waste water treatment, etc.) housing development extractive industries supply industries other supporting infrastructure is required since the site has good connectivity with local roads, MDR and highways. Also the laborers are hired locally thus no permanent or temporary housing is required at site. 9.2 Lead to after-use of the site, which could have an impact on the environment 9.3 Set a precedent for later developments 9.4 Have cumulative effects due to proximity to other existing or planned projects with similar effects. Since it is a river bed excavation, arrival of monsoon every year replenishes the excavated site. Hence there will be no change in land use pattern. - The project will cause positive, long term impact. Form-1/ 15
