2 Study Goals 2 LOOP 9 SOUTHEAST Solicit input from local and community leaders on specific transportation facility needs Promote public involvement to garner input and understand public needs and values Determine the transportation problems within the study area Identify a corridor where transportation projects could be developed to address area problems Identify specific transportation projects to advance in the corridor while considering the potential for impacts on the natural, socio- economic, and cultural environments Recommend a program of transportation projects to advance within the corridor over the next several years as funding becomes available

3 3 The Corridor/Feasibility Study Process FOLLOW PLANNING AND ENVIRONMENTAL LINKAGES METHODOLOGY Solicit Input from Community Leaders, Resource Agencies, and Major Stakeholders Public Involvement Utilize previous work efforts DETERMINE PROJECT NEEDS Conduct preliminary engineering/ environmental studies Identify a corridor where projects could be developed STUDY RESULTS Minimize impacts to the environment Identify Preferred Corridor PROGRAM OF PROJECTS Recommend individual projects to advance within the Preferred Corridor over the next several years as funding becomes available FUTURE PROJECTS Prioritize projects based on traffic, local needs, and funding Initiate projectspecific engineering and environmental studies Further refine the proposed right-ofway during individual projects

4 4Elements to include: Reduced right-of-way (350 feet vs. 600 feet) Lower design speed (70 mph vs. 85 mph) Phased project development and construction Flexibility to convert to a full, controlled access facility, if needed Project Needs: Provide East-West Connectivity it Travel Time Savings Provide Support for Economic Development Opportunities
