Mihir Environics, Inc. (MEI) conducted Asbestos Sampling of the suspect asbestos containing roofing material from the roof of the Control Room Building (Building No ) located at the above referenced location. Asbestos sampling was performed by John DeLoach on 05 February Putnam personnel expressed a desire not to have the shingled roof section damaged since it was not part of the roof replacement. the section of roof shingles was not sampled. The eybrow on the north side of the building and the walkway cover on the east side of the building did not have any roofing material but were painted with the same roof sealant as the built-up roof. This report was produced from the data collected by MEI personnel. A total of seven bulk samples were collected and analyzed of roofing material. The samples were analyzed on a 5-day turnaround. The bulk samples were analyzed by Schneider Laboratories Inc., Richmond, Virginia. Sample analysis was performed using Polarized Light Microscopy/Dispersion Staining (PLM/DS) in accordance with EPA Method 600/R-93/116. Table 1 summarizes the sample analysis results. The Laboratory Analysis Report has been included for your review.

RECOMENDATIONS HA-3 AHU Roof Flashing is 4% Chysotile Asbestos As roofing material is non-friable, building roof can be left in place during demolition, provided wet demolition is performed. During removal, material shall be kept wet, prompt clean up of waste material, disposal of waste material in leak-tight containers and other contractors shall be informed of this result. During removal, a competent asbestos supervisor should oversee the removal. During removal, employee exposure monitoring and area air monitoring may be required to establish regulated areas. 2
